Italy is part of the Schengen Area. Nationals of the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Japan and most other visa-exempt countries may enter for business visits of up to 90 days within any 180-day period without a visa; a passport valid at least 3 months beyond departure is required. Nationals who are not visa-exempt must obtain a Schengen Type C (short-stay) visa from the Italian consulate/VFS centre in their country of residence — the standard fee is EUR 90 for adults (EUR 45 for children 6–12), with a typical processing time of 15 calendar days (allow up to 45 days in peak periods) and applications accepted from 6 months before travel. Carry a trade/business invitation or employer letter plus proof of accommodation and travel insurance for border checks. From around late 2026/2027 the EU's ETIAS online travel authorisation (approx. EUR 20, valid 3 years) is expected to apply to visa-exempt travellers — verify status before booking.
Estimated cost: Varia in base al tipo di visto e alla nazionalità (controllare il sito ufficiale).
Processing: Varia in base alla nazionalità; presentare la domanda diverse settimane prima del viaggio.
