    Next edition outlook

    2026
    confirmed

UK Dairy Day 2027 is confirmed for Wednesday 15th September 2027 at Telford International Centre, Telford, Shropshire. The 2028 edition is scheduled for Wednesday 13th September 2028. The event is expected to continue its established format of trade stands across internal and external exhibition areas, National Shows for the Ayrshire, Brown Swiss, Dairy Shorthorn and Holstein breeds alongside Guernsey and Jersey classes, industry panels and seminars in the Sharing Knowledge Zone, practical demonstrations, and a Careers Board. As the UK dairy industry continues to navigate challenges around milk price volatility, declining producer numbers, BTV, and carbon reduction targets, the event is expected to maintain its focus on practical solutions, innovation and knowledge-sharing

Continued expansion of the practical demonstration programme following the success of lung scanning and calf health demonstrations in 2025 and 2026 Further integration of the UK Dairy Carbon Network into seminar and panel content as the industry accelerates carbon reduction efforts Potential for expanded BTV-3 and biosecurity content depending on the disease situation Ongoing growth in technology and AI-focused sessions as digital tools become more central to dairy farm management The event will continue to be held on a single day in September, timed for when dairy farmers are making plans and decisions for the winter ahead

    Impact

    A bigger and stronger platform

UK Dairy Day is the UK's leading free-to-attend dairy industry trade event, bringing together dairy farmers, breeders, processors, suppliers, consultants, students and industry leaders for a single day each September at the Telford International Centre. Since its launch in 2014, the event has grown into far more than an exhibition — it is a meeting place for an industry that never stands still, providing an opportunity to step away from the farm for a day and take stock of where dairy is heading. The 2025 edition welcomed over 8,000 visitors and featured over 300 trade stands, reinforcing its position as the most important dedicated event for the British dairy industry. The event is where new concepts, products, ideas and innovations are shared, and where dairy farmers can meet milk buyers, nutritionists, vets, machinery specialists, fellow farmers and industry organisations all in one place, saving weeks of phone calls and farm visits

    Audience quality

    High-value decision-makers

UK Dairy Day attracts a highly concentrated audience of decision-makers from across the UK dairy industry. Visitors include dairy farmers and herd managers, dairy cattle breeders and exhibitors, veterinary surgeons and animal health professionals, feed and nutrition advisers, dairy and farm equipment buyers, milk processors and buyers, agricultural students and new entrants to the dairy industry, and industry body, charity and training representatives. The event is described as a place where visitors can meet milk buyers, nutritionists, vets, machinery specialists, fellow farmers and industry organisations all in one place — a valuable time-saving opportunity for busy producers. Previous events have attracted more than 8,000 visitors from across the UK, creating a busy, energetic atmosphere that reflects the importance of the dairy sector to British agriculture. The event is equally valuable for the next generation: students and young farmers can explore career opportunities, meet potential employers and gain insight into the breadth of businesses that support the dairy industry

    Exhibitor outcomes

    Real business growth

UK Dairy Day delivers measurable return on investment for exhibitors by concentrating the UK dairy industry's key decision-makers into a single day at a single venue. The 2025 edition featured over 300 trade stands, and the 2024 10th anniversary edition featured over 280 trade stands, of which 100 had exhibited since the event's inception in 2014 — a strong indicator of exhibitor retention and satisfaction. Exhibitor feedback has been consistently positive: at the 2024 event, UK Dairy Day Cattle Show Director Ben Yates stated that 'the atmosphere at UK Dairy Day 2024 has been extremely buoyant, with trade exhibitor feedback being very positive.' At the 2021 post-Covid event, many exhibitors commented that it was positive to be back out talking to customers face-to-face, including Norbrook's territory manager Rebecca Jessett, who said the team had had good conversations with farmers and vets. Meadow Foods, which exhibited at UK Dairy Day 2025, described the event as 'a unique opportunity to both showcase what we do and show our support for the farming community,' noting that 'UK Dairy Day brings together everything that matters most to us. It's a place to meet our farmers face-to-face, hear their insights, and to thank them for the vital role they play in our business.' The event also offers a New Product Competition — sponsored and judged by IDEXX — and Trade Stand Awards judged and sponsored by AssuredPartners, providing exhibitors with additional visibility and recognition opportunities

    Market context

Key market insights, trends, news and related events to help you understand the bigger picture.

United Kingdom — national dairy sector event with strong relevance to Ireland, the EU and global dairy exporters

    Why it matters

UK Dairy Day 2026 matters because it is the single most important one-day gathering of the UK dairy industry, bringing together over 8,000 visitors and over 300 trade stands in one place at a pivotal moment for the sector. With farmgate milk prices recovering from below-cost-of-production levels but producer numbers falling below 7,000 and the GB milking herd at record lows, dairy farmers need practical solutions for efficiency, herd health, and sustainability more than ever. The event provides direct access to the latest genetics, nutrition, technology, and animal health innovations, alongside expert-led seminars on carbon footprint reduction, AI in agriculture, and BTV-3 biosecurity. For exhibitors, UK Dairy Day offers a concentrated national audience of decision-makers who are actively planning for the winter ahead, making it the most efficient channel to reach the UK dairy market in a single day. The event also serves as a vital meeting point for the entire dairy supply chain — from feed manufacturers and animal health suppliers to milk processors, equipment dealers, vets, consultants, and breed societies — reflecting the interconnected nature of modern dairy farming and the importance of collaborative problem-solving in a challenging market environment

    Industry trends

Key trends shaping this market and its wider industry.

    01

Milk Production Stabilisation and Supply Tightening

AHDB forecast GB milk production to stabilise in 2026 with marginal growth of around 0.3%, but by mid-2026 the outlook shifted to a decline of 0.9% for the 2026/27 season to 12.91bn litres, driven by a shrinking milking herd, volume management schemes, rising input costs, and extreme weather. August 2026 deliveries fell 4.5% year-on-year, with milk year-to-date supplies 2.5% below 2025 levels

    Source
    02

Farmgate Milk Price Recovery from a Low Base

After farmgate milk prices fell below the cost of production for many producers in early 2026, processors including Freshways, Müller, First Milk, and Arla announced significant price increases from autumn 2026. Freshways raised its standard price by 6ppl to 38ppl from October 1, 2026, responding to tightening domestic milk supply and forage challenges. Spot milk prices climbed to almost 50p/litre by August 2026

    Source
    03

Declining Producer Numbers and Herd Consolidation

The number of GB dairy producers fell below 7,000 as of April 2026, a reduction of almost 200 producers compared with the previous year and a decline of more than 1,000 over the past four years. The GB milking herd stood at 1.59 million head in April 2026, the lowest on record, and fell further to just under 1.6 million head by July 2026, the largest annual decline since January 2021. Consolidation means overall milk production remains high with average output per farm gradually increasing

    Source
    04

    Bluetongue Virus (BTV-3) Becoming Endemic

Bluetongue virus serotype 3 has become endemic in the West Country, affecting milk production in infected herds and adding operational disruption and supply risks for autumn and winter volumes. Scottish Government rules require cattle returning north from a BTV-3 Restricted Zone to generally be vaccinated using Bultavo-3 unless covered by a same-day exemption. UK Dairy Day 2026 hosts dedicated NFU-led BTV-3 updates and panel discussions

    Source
    05

    Sustainability and Carbon Footprint Reduction

The UK Dairy Roadmap and the new UK Dairy Carbon Network are driving industry-wide efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. AHDB seminars at UK Dairy Day 2026 examine how genetics and nutrition interact to reduce dairy herd carbon footprints, while the NFU Dairy Roadmap Sustainable Pathways report outlines the £2.4bn investment needed to secure a resilient and sustainable future for the sector

    Source
    06

Technology Adoption and AI in Agriculture

Precision livestock technology, virtual fencing, AI-driven herd management, and digital tools are transforming dairy farming. UK Dairy Day 2026 features a dedicated Technology Adoption industry panel and an AI in Agriculture seminar, with exhibitors including Lely, Alltech, and eShepherd showcasing their latest innovations

The UK accepts ATA Carnets for the temporary import of goods for trade fairs and exhibitions, commercial samples, and professional equipment. An ATA Carnet is an international customs document, also known as a 'passport for goods', that allows goods to be moved temporarily between participating countries without paying duties or taxes. It is typically used for commercial samples, professional equipment, and goods for trade fairs and exhibitions. Carnets are valid for up to one year and may be used multiple times within that period, provided the goods are returned to their country of origin in the same condition. In the UK, ATA Carnets are guaranteed by the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) and operational management is carried out by the UK National ATA Carnet Organisation (UKNATACO). From 1 June 2026, the UK, EU, Norway, and Switzerland introduced digital ATA Carnets (eATA). Exhibitors at UK Dairy Day 2026 from outside the UK can use an ATA Carnet to temporarily import display goods, equipment, and samples without paying UK import duties or VAT. Cultural notes

Useful information to help you have a smooth and respectful visit.

    Free-to-Attend Trade Event Culture

UK Dairy Day is a free-to-attend event with no pre-registration required, reflecting the UK dairy industry's preference for accessible, low-barrier trade gatherings. Entry is free and open to anyone connected to the dairy industry, with doors open from 8am to 5pm. This contrasts with many international trade shows that require paid registration, making it an easy event for farmers and industry professionals to attend spontaneously

    One-Day, Decision-Focused Format

The event is deliberately structured as a single-day event held in September, timed specifically for when dairy farmers are making plans and decisions for the winter ahead. This format respects the time constraints of busy farming operations while maximising the concentration of industry decision-makers in one place on one day

    Cattle Show Heritage

The UK Dairy Day Cattle Show is a central feature of the event, hosting National Shows for the Ayrshire, Brown Swiss, Dairy Shorthorn, and Holstein breeds alongside dedicated Guernsey and Jersey classes. The show ring is surrounded by principal sponsor trade stands, reflecting the close integration of livestock breeding and commercial trade within the UK dairy community. The National Holstein Show in 2026 will be judged by Gary Jones from Gorey, Co. Wexford, Ireland

    Industry Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing

A defining feature of UK Dairy Day is its emphasis on knowledge sharing. The first-floor Sharing Knowledge Zone hosts industry panels, seminars, a Careers Board, and tabletop exhibitors from training providers, charities, and industry bodies. The event is supported by a wide range of organisations including AHDB, NFU, and the UK Dairy Carbon Network, reflecting a collaborative rather than purely commercial culture. CPD points are available for BASIS DAIRY PRO, BASIS ENVIRONMENTAL, and BASIS PROFESSIONAL

    Decision

    Visit, exhibit, or skip?

    Should you go?

Answer eight quick questions to get a tailored recommendation on whether to visit, exhibit at, or skip UK Dairy Day 2026 on Wednesday 16 September at Telford International Centre

    QUESTION 1 OF 8

What best describes your connection to the dairy industry?

    Decision matrix

Compare participation options side by side to choose the best fit for your objectives.

    visit

You are active in the UK dairy industry, want to see the National Shows for Ayrshire, Brown Swiss, Dairy Shorthorn and Holstein breeds, and need practical information on breeding, feeding, technology, BTV-3 or carbon reduction

    Best for

Dairy farmers, herd managers, breeders, vets, feed and nutrition advisers, dairy equipment buyers, milk processors, agricultural students and new entrants who want to compare products, meet suppliers and learn from industry panels and seminars in a single free-to-attend day

    Min. budget

    $50.00

    Timeline

No lead time required — entry is free with no pre-registration. Plan travel and parking one to two weeks ahead if coming from outside the West Midlands

    Risks

The event is a single day, so you will need to prioritise which halls, stands, seminars and cattle classes to see

The external exhibition area and car parks are open-air, and mid-September weather in Shropshire can be wet and changeable

Some seminars and panels run concurrently, so you may need to choose between sessions

Limited public transport options mean driving or taxi is the most practical arrival method

    exhibit

You sell to UK dairy farms or the wider dairy supply chain, have a stand budget of £500–£6,000 or more, and can commit staff and materials for a one-day national event in September 2026

    Best for

Feed manufacturers, animal health suppliers, veterinary practices, milk buyers, dairy and farm equipment suppliers, breeding and genetics organisations, professional service providers, and charities or industry bodies targeting the UK dairy market

    Min. budget

    $250.00

    Timeline

Book early — trade stand space applications close 31 March 2026, with existing exhibitors given priority before remaining space is offered to new exhibitors. Allow 8–12 weeks before the event for stand design, build and logistics

    Risks

Trade stand space is allocated on a priority basis, so late applicants may miss preferred hall or concourse locations

You will need to arrange your own shell scheme, electrics, furniture, graphics and catering through StagecraftUK or a stand builder — these are not included in the open-space rate

The event is one day only, so lead capture and follow-up must be efficient and well planned

BTV-3 outbreak may reduce cattle entries and visitor numbers from affected regions

    skip

Your business does not target the dairy industry, you have no budget or team available this year, or the travel and logistics cannot be justified for a single-day event

    Best for

Businesses outside the dairy supply chain, companies with no stand budget or team capacity this year, international suppliers unable to justify travel for a one-day event, and anyone whose products or services do not target dairy farmers, breeders or processors

    Timeline

No action required. Reassess for UK Dairy Day 2027 on Wednesday 15 September 2027, when booking opens

    Risks

Skipping means missing a concentrated national audience of dairy decision-makers in one place on one day

Competitors in the dairy supply chain will be present, potentially gaining visibility and leads in your absence

The 2027 edition date is confirmed, so a one-year pause does not mean losing the opportunity permanently
