TOC Europe 2026 Recap: The 42nd Edition in Hamburg
The 42nd edition of TOC Europe took place from 19 to 21 May 2026 at the Hamburg Messe, closing as a reinforced reference point for the global port industry, with a balance combining growth in participants, technological maturity and a stronger agenda on operational resilience and sustainability.
With over 4,500 professionals in attendance and more than 980 port executives from over 100 countries, the event confirmed Hamburg as a reference hub for the strategic decisions influencing global maritime logistics.
The 2026 edition registered numbers substantially in line with or slightly higher than recent years, with stable attendance of around 4,500 delegates and an increase in participation from Asian and emerging terminal networks, not only European.
The presence of over 100 speakers and the concentration of operational leaders, technology buyers and solution providers in a single space reflected the industry's intention to accelerate the digital transition of ports and container terminals.
Hamburg as the host city, with the strong presence of operators such as HHLA and DP World, also made the event more focused on the needs of European and trans-Atlantic operators.
A central programme feature was the Digitalisation Benchmark presented by Boston Consulting Group and TIC 4.0, analysing the digital maturity of over 60 global terminals and offering for the first time an objective parameter to measure the gap between technological 'islands of excellence' and realities still focused on manual processes.
Opening day sessions focused on port digitalisation, automation, standardisation and cybersecurity during a busy schedule of TECH TOC sessions, with the opening panel held in partnership with TIC 4.0 and BCG examining how ports and terminals can fully benefit from digitalisation while overcoming interoperability challenges.
