Expanded alternative nicotine and CBD scope

      Broader delivery format showcase

The 2026 edition featured an expanded range of non-inhalable nicotine delivery formats including nootropics pouches, flavour-infused toothpicks in nicotine and nicotine-free variants, nicotine strips, sweets, lozenges and gums. This represented a significant expansion of the product categories on display compared to previous editions

    Next edition outlook

    2026
    medium

The Vaper Expo UK is expected to return in May 2027 at NEC Birmingham, maintaining its position as the UK's only dedicated vape, alternative nicotine and CBD expo and Europe's largest vaping exhibition. The 2027 edition will reflect the full impact of the Vaping Products Duty (effective October 2026), the Tobacco and Vapes Act's advertising and sponsorship restrictions (expected June 2027), and the continued maturation of the UK market towards refillable devices and oral nicotine formats. Organisers are expected to continue the single annual show format following the cancellation of the autumn 2025 edition, which was consolidated to deliver a larger and more impactful experience for exhibitors, buyers, and consumers

Full impact of the Vaping Products Duty (October 2026) visible in product pricing, packaging, and duty stamp compliance Tobacco and Vapes Act advertising and sponsorship restrictions (expected June 2027) shaping exhibitor marketing approaches Continued expansion of oral nicotine and alternative delivery formats including pouches, strips, lozenges, and nootropics Further consolidation of refillable pod systems and 6,000-puff devices as the compliant product sweet spot Potential introduction of retail licensing scheme details affecting B2B buyer attendance and sourcing strategies Expanded CBD and alternative nicotine categories following the 2026 rebrand

    Impact

    A bigger and stronger platform

The Vaper Expo UK 2025 cemented its position as Europe's largest and most influential vaping exhibition, attracting over 20,000 visitors and featuring more than 500 brands across 300+ exhibitor stands at NEC Birmingham. The tenth-anniversary edition served as a pivotal gathering for the global vaping industry, generating over £5 million in direct trade transactions and hosting 78% of exhibitors who chose the event to launch new products. Exhibitors came from over 20 countries and regions including the UK, China, Japan, South Korea, Russia, Spain, Italy, Germany, Australia, South Africa, Brazil, Singapore and Thailand. International visitors accounted for 35% of attendees, with 25% from Europe and 10% from North America and Asia, underscoring the show's role as a gateway between global manufacturers and the UK market. The event also marked a critical turning point for the industry: the UK Government had officially announced that the sale and supply of disposable, single-use vapes would be banned starting 1 June 2025. The impending regulation dominated conversations on the showfloor, with retailers, distributors, and consumers asking what would happen next. Key product trends included extended device lifespan (with some disposables offering up to 50,000 puffs), refillable pod systems, flavour diversification, and advanced digital screens allowing users to customise puff counts and flavour strength. The event also featured a strong environmental focus, with organisations such as Green Wings Project engaging hundreds of industry professionals, retailers, and vapers on the environmental future of the industry and launching a new structured on-site vape collection model ahead of the disposable ban

    Audience quality

    High-value decision-makers

The Vaper Expo UK attracts a high-quality, diverse audience that spans the full vaping industry spectrum. The 2025 edition drew over 20,000 visitors, including retailers, distributors, industry media and end consumers. The show's international character is a key strength: 35% of visitors came from outside the UK, with 25% from Europe and 10% from North America and Asia, creating a concentrated pool of international buyer resources. The three-day structure is carefully segmented, with Friday serving as an exclusive B2B day dedicated to trade professionals, drawing buyers, distributors, and retail chain decision-makers from across the globe. Saturday and Sunday open the halls to consumers, giving exhibitors the dual advantage of professional networking and direct consumer product testing. The B2B audience includes not only UK-based trade visitors but also major buyers from across Europe, making the event a genuinely international business platform. The presence of dedicated B2B days, combined with the show's reputation as the UK's only established vaping event, has made it the leading marketing tool for companies seeking to launch new brands and products in the European market

    Exhibitor outcomes

    Real business growth

The Vaper Expo UK offers exhibitors a demonstrable return on investment through multiple channels. The 2025 edition generated over £5 million in direct transactions during the show, according to organiser-reported data. With 78% of exhibiting companies choosing the event to launch new products, the show provides unmatched visibility for product debuts, attracting industry media and top-tier buyer attention. The event's social media footprint is substantial, with the #VaperExpoUK hashtag accumulating over 120 million impressions during the 2025 show. Exhibitors gain access to a highly concentrated audience of over 20,000 visitors, including more than 20,000 consumers across the full UK vaping market and a dedicated B2B audience that includes retailers, distributors, and industry professionals from the UK and across Europe. The show structure accommodates companies of all sizes, from the largest industry leaders to small and mid-sized businesses seeking to build brand awareness, meet new trade contacts, and advertise cost-effectively. The event is consistently described as having the best ROI among vaping exhibitions, with returns that 'continue to push boundaries' and ensure an engaging experience for exhibitors and visitors alike. The dual B2B and consumer audience model allows exhibitors to stress-test new product ideas with both trade buyers and end users in a single event

    United Kingdom / Europe

    Why it matters

The Vaper Expo UK matters because it is the primary UK venue where the post-disposable-ban, pre-Vaping Products Duty market takes shape. With the UK vaping population now exceeding the smoking population for the first time — around 5.5 million adult vapers — and the market projected to surpass £1.4bn by 2026, the commercial stakes are substantial. But the industry is in structural transition: the disposable ban has fragmented spend across big-puff devices, refill pods, oral nicotine, and heated tobacco, while the Vaping Products Duty (October 2026) and the Tobacco and Vapes Act (advertising ban June 2027, retail licensing) will reshape pricing, packaging, and channel strategy. For B2B buyers and exhibitors, the show is the single most concentrated opportunity in the UK to source compliant products, understand the retail landscape, and establish supply relationships before the October 2026 duty implementation. The 2026 edition demonstrated a clear pivot towards compliance-driven device design (6,000-puff devices, 12ml volumes), expanded oral nicotine formats, and personalisation trends — providing a real-time snapshot of how manufacturers and distributors are adapting. With 300+ exhibitor stands, 500+ brands, and 35% international visitors in 2025, the event is Europe's largest vaping exhibition and the gateway to the UK market for global brands

    Industry trends

Key trends shaping this market and its wider industry.

    01

Market maturity: vaping prevalence overtakes smoking

For the first time, vaping prevalence in the UK has exceeded smoking prevalence. Approximately 10% of UK adults (around 5.4–5.5 million people) now vape, with the UK market projected to surpass £1.4bn by 2026. Growth has plateaued after years of rapid expansion, signalling a structurally mature phase driven by reusable devices, flavour preferences, and balanced sales channels

    Source
    02

Disposable ban accelerates shift to refillable and big-puff formats

The UK's ban on single-use disposable vapes (June 2025) has transformed product demand. Larger puff kits (12ml) and smaller puff kits (2ml) together now outsell standard refill pods, despite being designed for repeated use. Consumers can often purchase double the liquid for a similar price to a previous single-use disposable, creating cost savings and reducing in-store footfall. The shift towards reusable formats is far from fully embedded among consumers

    Source
    03

Oral nicotine and pouches emerge as the fastest-growing category

Oral nicotine is thriving, showing a 42.5% increase in value and a 46% rise in units during Q1 2026 versus Q1 2025. Nicotine pouches are growing faster than vapes and heated tobacco products, with BAT predicting industry pouch revenue will reach £11 billion by 2030, overtaking vapes. Pouches offer lighter regulation, higher margins, and the ability to be used where vaping is restricted

    Source
    04

Regulatory escalation: Vaping Products Duty and Tobacco and Vapes Act

The Tobacco and Vapes Act received Royal Assent on 29 April 2026, introducing powers to ban vape advertising and sponsorship (scheduled for 1 June 2027), a retail licensing scheme, and restrictions on packaging and retail display. The Vaping Products Duty comes into effect on 1 October 2026 at a flat rate of 22p per ml, which will increase the price of vaping products by as much as 264%. These cumulative measures are reshaping product development, pricing, and channel strategy

    Source
    05

    Compliance-driven product design and innovation

Exhibitors at The Vaper Expo UK 2026 revealed a strategic pivot towards 6,000-puff devices viewed as the 'sweet spot' for balancing flavour reliability with legal requirements ahead of the October 2026 Vaping Products Duty, with manufacturers maintaining 12ml volumes to keep the flat-rate tax manageable. Personalisation and customisation trends also accelerated, with on-site engraving and limited 'souvenir editions' of products

    Source
    06

Fragmentation of the nicotine alternatives market

What was previously around £20 million per week concentrated in disposable vapes is now spread across multiple sub-categories including big puff devices, refill pods, oral nicotine, and heated tobacco. This fragmentation, combined with improved value per ml for consumers, suggests that while total spend may appear to be declining, usage levels may not be falling at the same rate. The UK nicotine alternatives market is diversifying rather than shrinking

UKVIA launches ten-point 'Fair Deal for Vaping' campaign

The UK Vaping Industry Association called on millions of adult vapers to back a new Fair Deal for Vaping, warning that the cumulative impact of Government policy risks undermining vaping's role in helping smokers quit. The campaign calls for accelerated retail licensing, proportionate regulation, and a review of the Vaping Products Duty, which comes into effect on 1 October 2026 at 22p per ml

    Tipping and Service Charges

Tipping in the UK is customary in restaurants, typically around 10–12.5% for good service if a service charge is not already included. Taxi fares are often rounded up or tipped about 10%. Tipping in cafes and for counter service is optional but small change is appreciated. Cashless payments are common throughout Birmingham, and most places accept Visa and Mastercard

    Vaping Etiquette in the UK

In the UK, vaping is generally permitted in outdoor public spaces and is not covered by the indoor smoking ban that applies to cigarettes. However, individual venues may set their own policies. At the NEC, vaping should be treated similarly to smoking — move away from dense crowds before using your device, maintain distance from entrances, bus stops, and queues, and avoid vaping around children or in enclosed spaces. The legal age to purchase vaping and nicotine products is 18, and from 29 October 2026 this will be extended to cover all consumer nicotine products including nicotine pouches and zero-nicotine vapes

    Local Customs and Etiquette

Birmingham locals are generally friendly and welcoming. A simple 'hello', 'please' or 'thank you' is appreciated. Queuing is standard practice in the UK, whether for buses, food outlets, or event entrances. Public transport is generally quiet, and it is polite to keep phone conversations brief. Birmingham is a diverse, multicultural city with a wide range of dining options including Indian, Chinese, Caribbean, and Middle Eastern cuisine

    Getting Around Birmingham

Birmingham City Centre is approximately 14 miles from the NEC, accessible by train from Birmingham International in under 15 minutes. The NEC campus also includes Resorts World Birmingham (shopping, dining, cinema, casino), Bear Grylls Adventure, the National Motorcycle Museum, and Pendigo Lake. The free Air-Rail Link connects the airport to the railway station, and the NEC is a short covered walk from there
