    Edition recap

The 13th edition of Big 5 Construct Saudi, held from 15–18 and 24–27 February 2025 at the Riyadh Front Exhibition & Conference Center at ROSHN Front, marked a monumental step forward for the Kingdom's construction sector. Organised by dmg events and supported by the Saudi Contractors Authority (SCA), the 2025 edition was the first-ever construction event in the Middle East to adopt a two-week format, spanning an impressive 140,000 sq m — doubling from 2024.

The event attracted more than 75,000 visitors and featured over 2,000 local and international exhibitors from more than 60 countries, showcasing over 20,000 products across eight specialised co-located events. Week 1 (15–18 February) focused on heavy construction, concrete, HVAC and related sectors under the theme 'Strong foundations from design to build,' while Week 2 (24–27 February) shifted to the finishing phases under the theme 'Transforming projects from fit-out to services.' New co-located events included Heavy Saudi Arabia, Totally Concrete Saudi Arabia, Urban Design & Landscape Saudi Arabia, and Saudi Hospital Design & Build.

The International Contracting Conference (ICC), organised by the Saudi Contractors Authority (SCA) and dmg events, returned for its fifth edition, gathering top contractors and international contracting experts for two days of dialogues. The event also facilitated over $2.13 billion in business opportunities during the 2025 edition, according to organiser figures. The Best Exhibitor Marketing Campaign Awards 2025 recognised top exhibitors across both weeks, including Saudi Real Estate Infrastructure Company (BINYAH), DAIKIN Air Conditioning Saudi Arabia, and Saudi Liebherr Company Limited in Week 1, and Techno Panel Factory Co, Granada Aluminium Factory Co, and GME Systems Trading Company in Week 2.

    Impact

    A bigger and stronger platform

Big 5 Construct Saudi 2025 was a landmark edition that redefined the scale and ambition of construction industry events in the Kingdom. As the 13th edition, it became the first-ever construction event in the Middle East to adopt a two-week format, spanning 140,000 square metres — double the size of 2024 — and drawing over 75,000 visitors and more than 2,000 exhibitors from over 60 countries showcasing 20,000+ products across eight specialised co-located events. Inaugurated by Mohammed Abdulaziz Alajlan, Chairman of the Saudi Contractors Authority, the event aligned squarely with Vision 2030 and provided a gateway to Saudi Arabia's $1.7 trillion construction industry. The event facilitated over $2.13 billion in business opportunities, reinforcing its role as the Kingdom's most significant platform for construction trade, investment, and knowledge exchange.

    Audience quality

    High-value decision-makers

The 2025 edition attracted over 75,000 visitors, with 100+ expert-led Big 5 Talks sessions covering digital transformation, sustainability, project management and modular construction. The event drew senior government officials, industry leaders, and experts, including Mohammed Abdulaziz Alajlan (Chairman, Saudi Contractors Authority), David Watkins (Chief Projects Development Officer, Osool Real Estate), Khalid Al Othman (President, National Committee for Sustainability and Green Economy, Federation of Saudi Chambers), Tawfeeq Aljohani (VP of Supply Chain and Logistics, Al Bawani), Saleh Katheer (Managing Director, Alkifah Construction Contracting Company), and Sinan Rasheed (Director of Sustainability, New Murabba). The International Contracting Conference (ICC) in its fifth edition gathered top contractors and international contracting experts for two days of dialogues. Italy was the country with the largest exhibitor presence, with over 200 companies participating.

    Exhibitor outcomes

    Real business growth

Exhibitors at Big 5 Construct Saudi 2025 benefited from direct access to the Kingdom's $1.7 trillion construction pipeline and the event facilitated over $2.13 billion in business opportunities. The Best Exhibitor Marketing Campaign Awards recognised exhibitors who maximised their presence through personalised registration links, social media, email campaigns and website promotions, driving visitor engagement to their stands. Winners across both weeks included Saudi Real Estate Infrastructure Company (BINYAH), DAIKIN Air Conditioning Saudi Arabia, Saudi Liebherr Company Limited (Week 1) and Techno Panel Factory Co, Granada Aluminium Factory Co, GME Systems Trading Company (Week 2). The two-week format allowed exhibitors to engage deeply with sector-specific audiences, with heavy construction companies connecting with project developers and contractors during Week 1, while finishing and services exhibitors reached fit-out and FM professionals during Week 2. Exhibitors could tap into new prospects and leverage significant market growth, with Saudi Arabia's construction market projected to grow from $70.33 billion in 2024 to $91.36 billion by 2029.

    Saudi Arabia

    Why it matters

Big 5 Construct Saudi 2026 arrives at a critical inflection point for the Kingdom's construction sector. Saudi Arabia's construction market is projected to grow by 6.2% to reach SAR 232.14 billion in 2026, with the infrastructure segment alone expanding from USD 68.47 billion in 2026 to USD 87.89 billion by 2031. While PIF's 2026–2030 strategy introduces a more disciplined, phased delivery model — shifting away from a purely expansion-driven approach toward integrated economic ecosystems — the underlying commitment to construction remains robust, with giga-project contract awards reaching USD 196 billion by end-2025, up 20% year-on-year, and construction contract awards up 82% year-on-year in 1H 2026. The market is becoming more selective, more digital, and more focused on risk management, creating demand for higher-quality materials, advanced technologies, and specialised expertise. For exhibitors and buyers, this event is the single most concentrated gathering of contractors, consultants, developers, government stakeholders, and suppliers shaping the Kingdom's built environment. The pivot toward data centres, AI infrastructure, construction robotics, and sustainable building solutions signals where the next wave of opportunity lies, making Big 5 Construct Saudi 2026 a critical platform for positioning in a market that rewards those who can deliver integrated, compliant, and future-ready solutions.

Phased delivery model replaces simultaneous mega-project build-out

Saudi Arabia is shifting its giga-projects from a 'build everything at once' approach to a more phased delivery model. By the end of June 2026, a total of USD 92 billion in contracts had been awarded across all five official gigaprojects, but only USD 4.5 billion came in 1H 2026. After peaking at around USD 34 billion in 2023, awards fell 20% in 2024 before dropping a further 48% to USD 14.3 billion in 2025. Riyadh's deadline-bound projects and the rail push are absorbing capital, while desert megaprojects await their turn.

Construction index reaches record highs as contract awards surge

Saudi Arabia's construction index climbed to a record 56.3 in June 2026 as contract awards surged past SAR 29.5 billion in June alone. The construction sector accounted for the largest share of awards with 14 projects worth more than SAR 20.6 billion, representing 56% of total value. Roughly 49% of industry participants anticipated a rise in activity over the year ahead, against 8% expecting a decline. Contract awards between January and July 2026 reached SAR 111 billion, up almost 60% year-on-year.

Construction automation and robotics gain momentum with major investments

NEOM signed a joint venture agreement with Samsung C&T Corporation to unlock an initial investment of more than SAR 1.3 billion (USD 345 million) in construction robotics. The JV aims to automate rebar cage assembly through advanced robotic welding and tying techniques, reducing manual workforce hours by up to 80% and cage assembly costs by up to 40%. The agreement will establish rebar cage assembly factories in NEOM, creating more than 2,000 highly skilled job opportunities.

Saudi-Chinese construction partnership deepens with major housing awards

Saudi Arabia awarded new housing projects in Riyadh and Dammam worth more than SAR 1.9 billion to Chinese firms as part of efforts to strengthen the Saudi-Chinese partnership in housing and construction. The Al-Ruba residential project in Riyadh was awarded to CACC for 2,010 housing units valued at SAR 875 million, while the Al-Rasha Al-Faisaliah project in Dammam was awarded to China State Corporation for 2,426 housing units valued at SAR 1.06 billion. Contracts signed in 2026 exceeded 19,000 units, bringing the total contracted housing units to more than 37,000.

Digital delivery and Programme Management Consultancy gain traction

The majority of clients in Saudi Arabia are now investing in digital tools to streamline delivery, reduce costs and address workforce limitations. Alternative delivery models such as Programme Management Consultancy (PMC) are being adopted to improve project outcomes, offering strategic, portfolio-level oversight by integrating governance, stakeholder alignment and digital platforms across multiple workstreams. Riyadh is now one of the most expensive cities in the region at USD 3,112 per sq m for build costs, yet investor confidence remains strong.

Data centres and digital infrastructure emerge as construction priority

A single SAR 10.1 billion (USD 2.7 billion) contract for a new data centre accounted for nearly 90% of all awarded contract value in January 2026, signalling a structural pivot in the construction sector. NEOM's strategic review is expected to produce a redesigned concept with data centres and AI infrastructure mooted as a potential new focus, reflecting the Kingdom's ambition to build the digital backbone required by global AI-driven investment. The infrastructure construction market is projected to grow from USD 68.47 billion in 2026 to USD 87.89 billion by 2031.

Saudi Arabia joined the international ATA Carnet guarantee system effective 1 June 2024. The Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Saudi Chambers) serves as the national guarantor and issues the ATA Carnet. The system allows duty-free import of goods brought temporarily for exhibitions and events for up to six months (180 days). Importers holding a carnet must submit a pre-approval request through the ZATCA e-service, providing importer information, a passport copy, ATA Carnet details, and goods information. ZATCA will release shipments through Saudi ports of entry within 24 hours (inspections based on risk criteria). The system does not cover certain categories of goods such as perishables and consumable items. The ATA Carnet replaces customs declarations and acts like a passport for imported and exported goods.

    Cultural notes

Useful information to help you have a smooth and respectful visit.

    Relationship-first business culture

In Saudi Arabia, business relationships are built on trust and personal connection. People want to know who they are meeting before deciding on next steps. Showing genuine curiosity about your counterpart's organisation, priorities, and challenges is viewed as a sign of respect and opens doors long before a sales presentation. Take time to greet properly, exchange pleasantries, and avoid rushing directly into business discussions.

Dress and conduct at trade events

Business attire is expected at trade shows and formal meetings. For men, a suit or smart business wear is appropriate; Saudi men may wear traditional thobe. For women, modest business dress covering shoulders and knees is recommended. When greeting, men should not extend a hand to a woman unless she offers first. In group settings with men of equal status, greetings typically begin on the right and continue to the left.

    Meeting etiquette and scheduling

Meetings with Saudi counterparts are treated as important commitments, but flexibility around timing is common. Business is often conducted at a measured pace, with relationship-building preceding substantive negotiations. Avoid scheduling meetings during prayer times, and be aware that the working week runs Sunday through Thursday, with Friday and Saturday as the weekend. Prayer rooms are available at the venue for both men and women.

    Alcohol prohibition and legal sensitivities

Alcohol is strictly prohibited in Saudi Arabia, including its importation and consumption. Attempting to bring alcohol into the country carries serious sanctions. Visitors should also be mindful that the Kingdom is undergoing rapid cultural change under Vision 2030, and while many areas have liberalised, respect for local customs and Islamic values remains essential.

Riyadh Air launched direct flights to London Heathrow, Manchester, Dubai, Cairo, Madrid, Kuala Lumpur, and Manila as of 2026. Saudia, flynas, flyadeal and other carriers operate extensive networks from RUH. Book flights early as Riyadh is a busy business destination.

    Visa

Most foreign nationals require a visa to enter Saudi Arabia. Citizens of 60+ countries can obtain an online tourist eVisa valid for 1 year (multiple entries, up to 90 days total stay) at a cost of approximately SAR 300 (~USD 80) including health insurance. Visa on arrival is available for eligible nationalities and holders of valid US, UK, or Schengen visas. A new Package Visa programme covers citizens of Egypt, Jordan, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Mexico through bundled travel bookings. GCC citizens are visa-free. A business visit visa requires a MOFA invitation from a Saudi host. Israeli passport holders are prohibited from entry.

Processing: 5-30 minutes (usually instant) for tourist eVisa; up to 48 hours for Package Visa

The tourist eVisa is electronically linked to the passport and does not require a printed copy, though keeping one is advisable as backup. The 90-day total stay limit can be split across multiple visits within the 1-year validity period. Travellers not eligible for the eVisa can apply through the Saudi embassy or consulate (2-4 weeks processing), obtain a sponsor-based visit visa, or use a transit visa (up to 96 hours) through Saudia or participating carriers. Always verify current eligibility on the official portal before purchasing flights.

You need to source products, compare suppliers side by side, attend CPD-certified talks, or evaluate market entry — and you want to do so at minimal cost (free admission).

Riyadh traffic during peak hours can extend journey times significantly

    exhibit

You have a clear product-market fit, a realistic budget (booth costs typically range from $15k–$40k depending on stand size and specification), and the operational capacity to manage a major international exhibition.

    Best for
