    Türkiye & Global Textile Sourcing

    Why it matters

Texhibition Istanbul matters because it sits at the intersection of Türkiye's position as the world's fourth-largest textile exporter and the sector's rapid transformation. With $31 billion in textile and apparel exports and a 3.6% share of the $858 billion global market, Türkiye offers buyers a fast, flexible and sustainable sourcing alternative to Asian suppliers. The September 2026 edition brings over 500 exhibitors across 42,850 square metres, giving buyers direct access to woven and knitted fabrics, yarn, denim, accessories and technical textiles. The event's focus on innovation, AI and sustainability addresses the most pressing challenges in global textile sourcing: traceability, compliance with the EU Digital Product Passport, carbon reduction and supply chain diversification. For exhibitors, the fair delivers a curated international audience with dedicated B2B areas and a business lounge designed for targeted meetings, while the Blue Black denim platform and Trend Areas provide visibility into autumn/winter 2027-28 directions. The event's timing in early September aligns with the global sourcing calendar for AW 2027-28 collections, positioning it as a strategic stop between Première Vision Paris and Milano Unica. (

Green and digital transformation of Turkish textile manufacturing

Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır confirmed that approximately 1.2 million jobs were preserved in labour-intensive sectors including textiles, ready-to-wear, leather and furniture since the start of 2026. Production hub strategy for cost-competitive orders

The Turkish Clothing Manufacturers' Association (TGSD) is calling for the establishment of regional production hubs along a corridor stretching across Syria, northern Iraq and Azerbaijan. The proposed model aims to attract cost-sensitive orders, reactivate idle machinery, and increase utilization of Türkiye's textile and supporting industries. Syria alone could generate 250,000 jobs and $5 billion in annual export capacity in the medium term. Türkiye's ready-to-wear exports fell 2% in January-August 2026, while textile exports rose 1% during the same period. (Source:

Cotton production decline drives import dependence

Türkiye's cotton market is heading into MY 2026/27 with a sharper production decline and greater dependence on imports. Planting area is forecast down 30%, pushing 2026/27 production to 495,000 metric tonnes. Imports are projected at 1.1 million MT as Turkish mills remain dependent on overseas supply. Domestic consumption is forecast at 1.5 million MT, down 3% year on year. (Source:

Brand transition from manufacturing to own-label development

Facing rising costs and competition from low-price production origins, Turkish fashion manufacturers are repositioning their role in the global supply chain. Rather than competing on price, companies are leveraging decades of manufacturing experience, a complete industrial chain, design and product development capabilities, and geographical proximity to European markets. This shift from contract manufacturing towards own-brand development is transforming Türkiye's position in the global fashion supply chain. (Source:

    Cultural notes

Useful information to help you have a smooth and respectful visit.

    Business etiquette and greeting customs

Business dress in Istanbul is conservative, with dark suits for men and suits and heels for women. A firm handshake is standard at the start of meetings. Among familiar colleagues, a light double-cheek greeting is common. Punctuality signals professionalism, though traffic jams are frequent so allow plenty of travel time. Refusals are often expressed softly; phrases like 'we will see' may function as polite deferrals rather than commitments. English is widely used in international business settings, though Turkish is the primary language. (

    Payment and currency

The Turkish Lira (TRY) is the local currency, with the symbol ₺. Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in Istanbul, including contactless payments. ATMs are available throughout the city. For the fairground, parking payments can be made by cash or credit card. (

    Language and communication

Turkish is the official language. In business settings, English is commonly spoken, especially in the textile and export sectors. Business meetings generally start on time, though initial conversations may feel relaxed. It is advisable to have materials translated into Turkish for maximum engagement with local manufacturers and officials. (

    Visa

Visa requirements for Türkiye depend on nationality and purpose of visit. Most EU, UK, US, Canadian, Australian, Japanese, South Korean, and many other nationalities can enter visa-free for tourism and short-term business visits. Chinese ordinary passport holders have visa-free entry for tourism and transit only (90 days in 180) but must obtain a business-purpose e-Visa or business visa for trade fair attendance. Nationals of 48 other countries are eligible for the e-Visa. Those not eligible for e-Visa or requiring longer stays must apply for a sticker visa at a Turkish embassy or consulate

    Estimated cost: Not yet confirmed

Processing: 24–48 hours for e-Visa; 1–4 weeks for embassy/consulate visa

e-Visa applications are completed entirely online and require a credit or debit card (Mastercard, Visa, or UnionPay). Recommended to apply at least 48 hours before travel. A business invitation letter from a Turkish company or organisation is often required for business visa applications. The e-Visa portal is the only official government website; third-party sites may charge additional fees. (

What is your primary objective for engaging with Texhibition Istanbul 2026?

    Decision matrix

Compare participation options side by side to choose the best fit for your objectives.

    visit

You have an active sourcing need for AW 2027-28 collections, want to evaluate Turkish manufacturers directly, or need to benchmark materials, pricing, and lead times across a concentrated pool of 500+ suppliers

    Best for

Sourcing professionals, apparel manufacturers, fashion brands, designers, product developers, purchasing managers from retail chains, importers, distributors, and online sales platforms seeking woven/knitted fabrics, yarn, denim, accessories, embroidery, printing, or artificial leather

    Min. budget

    $800.00

    Timeline

T-14 to T-30 for registration, travel, and meeting scheduling; free visitor registration required before arrival

    Risks

September is peak travel season; book flights and accommodation early

Istanbul traffic can be heavy; allow extra time for airport transfers and daily commutes

Large fair footprint (five halls, 42,850 sqm) requires a structured visit plan to cover relevant categories efficiently

    exhibit

You have production capacity, new-season collections, or innovation to showcase; you want to meet pre-qualified international buyers; and you can commit to the September timeline for AW 2027-28 season presentations

    Best for

Turkish and international textile manufacturers, fabric and yarn producers, denim companies, accessory suppliers, embroidery and printing specialists, and technology providers seeking direct access to international brands, buyers, designers, and sourcing professionals

    Min. budget

    $3,500.00

    Timeline

T-90 to T-180 for booth booking, stand design, logistics, and ATA Carnet preparation for international exhibitors

    Risks

Booth pricing is not published publicly; budget uncertainty requires direct enquiry to the organiser

International exhibitors must comply with Turkish customs and ATA Carnet requirements for temporary admission

ROI depends on visitor quality; while the fair emphasises a curated international audience, results vary by product category and stand location

    skip

Your product categories are not represented, your budget cannot accommodate travel or participation, September timing conflicts with critical business cycles, or you have no immediate sourcing or selling need in the textile sector

    Best for

Professionals whose focus is outside textiles, apparel manufacturing, or sourcing; those with no budget or timeline flexibility for September 2026; and buyers with fully established supply chains in other regions who do not need Turkish manufacturing alternatives

    Min. budget

    Not yet confirmed

    Timeline

Not applicable for this edition; consider March 2027 or September 2027 if priorities change

    Risks

Missing potential new supplier relationships and market intelligence

Remaining unaware of Turkish textile innovation and pricing trends

Loss of competitive edge if competitors are actively sourcing from Türkiye
