Many business visitors do not need a Mexican visa: Mexico exempts travellers who hold a valid, unexpired multiple-entry visa from the USA, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom or any Schengen country for tourism, business or transit. Visa-exempt nationalities enter as a Visitante (visitor) for short-term business stays of up to 180 days. Nationalities not covered by the exemption must obtain a consulate-issued visitor visa before travel.
Estimated cost: Visa-exempt entry carries no visa fee. Consulate-issued Mexican visitor visas carry a government fee that can change, so confirm the current amount with your nearest Mexican consulate before applying.
Processing: Exempt travellers need no advance application and are processed on arrival; visitors who require a consulate-issued Mexican visa should apply several weeks before travel to allow for appointment and processing time.
Carry proof of onward travel, accommodation details and the purpose of your business visit. Mexican immigration issues an entry record (Visitante permit) at the port of entry. Check the SRE and INM portals, or your nearest Mexican consulate, for the current nationality list and document requirements.
