    Europe

    Why it matters

Supply Chain Event 2026 sits at the intersection of Europe's most pressing supply chain challenges. With EU regulations mandating supply chain diversification, CBAM entering its definitive phase, and the EUDR applying from December 2026, French and European companies must rapidly adapt their sourcing, traceability and compliance frameworks. The event directly addresses these pressures: 85% of French companies invest in technology to meet customer expectations, 66% have implemented automation and robotization, and 75% of European logistics companies face talent shortages requiring technology-driven solutions. The road freight market's return to growth, combined with an unprecedented M&A wave and 85% of AI use cases moving from pilot to live deployment, signals a pivotal investment window. Supply Chain Event 2026 positions itself as a 'Digital Transformation Activator', helping decision-makers move from analysis to decision and from decision to implementation across four critical themes: risk management and compliance, intralogistics and robotics, forecasting and planning, and visibility and flow management. and https://www.francesupplychain.org/barometre-2026-france-supply-chain-bearingpoint-85-des-entreprises-investissent-dans-la-technologie-pour-repondre-aux-attentes-clients/ and https://ti-insight.com/briefs/european-road-freight-market-growth-2026/

    Industry trends

Key trends shaping this market and its wider industry.

    01

Agentic AI and physical AI reshape European supply chain operations

Gartner identifies agentic AI and physical AI among the top supply chain technology trends for 2026. Agentic AI introduces a virtual workforce of agents capable of planning, acting and adapting to achieve goals in complex environments, while physical AI combines AI models with IoT sensors, robotics and automation systems for real-time sensing, analysis and execution. European supply chains are adopting these technologies to address labour shortages, rising costs and regulatory pressure

    Source
    02

EU regulatory wave drives supply chain compliance and diversification

The EU is enacting sweeping supply chain regulations including the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), and new supply chain diversification rules. The European Commission's Supply Chain Resilience Strategy introduces mandatory diversification requirements limiting single-supplier dependency to 30–40%. These regulations force companies to redesign sourcing, increase traceability, and invest in compliance infrastructure

    03

European road freight market returns to growth amid consolidation

European road freight reached €440,388m in 2025 and is forecast to grow to €447,638m in 2026, expanding at a 1.9% CAGR to €483,468m by 2030. Growth is driven by CEE manufacturing, fleet decarbonisation and tightening regulatory costs. AI adoption has moved beyond experimentation, with 85% of identified use cases now live. Consolidation is reshaping the landscape, headlined by DSV's acquisition of DB Schenker

    Source
    04

Talent shortage reaches critical levels across European logistics

75% of European logistics companies report difficulties filling vacancies, rising to 79% in Spain. Europe faces an estimated 400,000 unfilled truck driver positions by 2026. Companies are responding with automation, robotics, and targeted recruitment programs. The European Labour Authority lists logistics and supply chain functions among the most constrained talent categories

    Source
    05

Nearshoring and 'in Europe for Europe' supply chain design gains momentum

European companies are redesigning supply chains around resilience and nearshoring. In 2026, delivery performance depends less on individual shipments and more on how the entire supply chain is designed. Resilience is now a design principle, not a damage-control tactic. Companies are diversifying sourcing, building regional inventory buffers, and establishing multi-country supplier networks
