    Next edition outlook

    2026
    confirmed

The 2026 edition will be the 10th edition and the final one to be held in Bremen before the event relocates to Frankfurt in 2027. The move is driven solely by capacity constraints at Messe Bremen, as the event has outgrown the venue — all areas from ÖVB-Arena to Hall 7 will be fully occupied for the first time in 2026. Organiser Smarter Shows, part of Informa Markets, and the Bremen Senate have agreed to explore further collaboration opportunities. The 2026 programme will continue to feature four specialised conferences (Industry, Smallsats, Connectivity, Technology Forum) plus the Skills Lab, with expanded strategic security and defence programming. Forecast figures indicate approximately 739 exhibitors and 14,500–16,500 visitors across 40,000 sqm

Final edition in Bremen before relocating to Frankfurt in 2027 (confirmed by Bremen Senate and multiple German media reports) First time all areas from ÖVB-Arena to Hall 7 will be fully occupied Continued expansion of strategic security and defence programming Growth in exhibitor numbers driven by IRIS² constellation (€15.6 billion, 348 satellites) and European Launcher Challenge ($634 million to Isar Aerospace, PLD Space, Rocket Factory Augsburg) supply chain demand Increased focus on sovereign satellite manufacturing and secure connectivity Expanded Skills Lab offering with masterclasses on cybersecurity, AI & ML, and venture capital Smarter Shows and Bremen Senate to explore future collaboration opportunities for new specialised space formats

Europe — with global reach across the space supply chain

    Why it matters

Space Tech Expo Europe 2026 arrives at a pivotal inflection point for the European space industry. With European space budgets growing at their fastest rate in five years (12% to €13.5 billion), the IRIS² constellation transitioning to full-scale deployment (348 satellites, €15.6 billion), and the European Launcher Challenge injecting €543.6 million into three startup launch providers, the continent is aggressively building sovereign space capabilities. The event serves as the primary B2B marketplace where this investment translates into supply chain contracts — connecting prime contractors, subsystem suppliers, component manufacturers, and engineering service providers with institutional and commercial demand now dominated by defence and security requirements. For exhibitors, the 2026 edition offers direct access to decision-makers from ESA, national space agencies, prime integrators, and the growing NewSpace ecosystem at a time when European prime contractors have regained 10% of the global market and 65% of their accessible market. For visitors, the four parallel conferences — Industry, Smallsats, Connectivity, and Technology Forum — plus the Skills Lab provide a comprehensive overview of the trends reshaping European space: sovereign launch, secure satellite communications, Earth observation data services, and the commercialisation of low Earth orbit. The 2026 edition is the final one to be held in Bremen before the event relocates to Frankfurt in 2027 due to capacity constraints, making it a landmark gathering for the European space community

    Industry trends

Key trends shaping this market and its wider industry.

    01

European space budgets surge on defence spending

European space budgets grew 12% to €13.5 billion in 2025 — double-digit growth for the first time in five years — driven mainly by increased national defence spending led by Germany. The upstream market (spacecraft manufacturing and launch services) is valued at €75 billion, with 80% of institutional demand now dominated by defence. European prime contractors regained market share, capturing 10% globally and 65% of their accessible market. Private investment in European space ventures reached €1.4 billion in 2025, the second-highest annual total on record

    Source
    02

IRIS² constellation expands to 348 satellites as deployment begins

The EU's sovereign satellite constellation IRIS² expanded to 348 satellites (330 in LEO, 18 in MEO) with a total investment exceeding €15.6 billion. The European Commission and the SpaceRISE consortium signed an implementation agreement on 7 August 2026, moving IRIS² from planning to full-scale deployment. The first launches are brought forward to 2029. OHB secured a nearly €1 billion contract for 18 satellite platforms, and defence and security applications are the primary drivers of the expanded design, providing 60% more secure governmental capacity within the EU and 54% worldwide

    Source
    03

Since 1 June 2026, the fully digital ATA Carnet (QR-code based) has been available in approximately 30 countries, including all EU member states, Switzerland, Norway, and the United Kingdom. Carnets issued from 1 June 2026 can be processed digitally; existing paper carnets remain valid for their entire duration. Cultural notes

Useful information to help you have a smooth and respectful visit.

    German business etiquette

Business meetings in Germany typically begin with a firm handshake and formal address (Herr/Frau plus surname) until invited to use first names. Punctuality is highly valued; arriving five to ten minutes early is considered courteous. Business cards are exchanged formally. English is widely spoken in the aerospace industry, but a few German phrases are appreciated

    Tipping culture

Service charges are included in restaurant bills. For good service, a tip of 5–10% is customary in restaurants and cafés, given directly to the server when paying the bill rather than left on the table. In taxis, rounding up is common. Small tips are appreciated at cafés but not expected for counter service

    Bremen: Germany's space capital

Bremen is home to major aerospace players including Airbus Defence & Space, OHB, ArianeGroup, and ZARM, making it a fitting host city for Europe's largest B2B space event. The city's industrial heritage and concentration of space R&D and manufacturing create a unique ecosystem for networking and business development

    Local cuisine and dining

Bremen offers traditional northern German cuisine including Grünkohl (kale with sausage), Labskaus (a sailor's dish of corned beef, potatoes, and beetroot), and fresh fish from the Weser river. The Schlachte riverside promenade and Schnoor Quarter offer diverse dining options within walking distance of the venue

    Visa

Visa requirements for Germany depend on nationality. EU/EEA citizens and nationals of 62 visa-exempt countries can enter Germany for business visits of up to 90 days within any 180-day period without a visa. All other non-EU/EEA nationals require a Schengen Short-Stay Business Visa (Type C). Germany must be the main destination. An official invitation letter from the trade fair organiser is generally no longer required (German Foreign Office directive, July 2013). Visa fees are waived for exhibitors at German trade fairs. Apply well in advance, as processing takes approximately 15 working days and appointment wait times can be significant

Processing: Approximately 15 working days (calendar days) from receipt of application by the embassy, plus 2–3 working days for passport return

Travel medical insurance with minimum coverage of EUR 30,000 is required for all Schengen visa applicants. The visa allows a maximum stay of 90 days within any 180-day period. Should you go?

Answer these 8 questions to determine whether Space Tech Expo Europe 2026 is best for you as a visitor, an exhibitor, or one to skip. Your responses will be scored to generate a personalised recommendation

    QUESTION 1 OF 8

What best describes your primary role or objective for attending Space Tech Expo Europe 2026?

    Decision matrix

Compare participation options side by side to choose the best fit for your objectives.

    visit

You have specific sourcing or intelligence goals, can travel to Bremen, and want to maximise learning and networking without the cost and logistics of a stand

    Best for

Technical engineers, procurement specialists, R&D professionals, and business development managers who need to source components, evaluate suppliers, and understand market trends without the commitment of a booth

    Min. budget

    $1,500.00

    Timeline

2–4 weeks for registration, travel booking, and B2B meeting scheduling

    Risks

High demand for hotels during event week may push accommodation costs above estimates

Limited availability of B2B meeting slots if registration is late (booking opens 5 October 2026)

Conference sessions may fill up; early registration recommended for Skills Lab workshops

    exhibit

You have a clear product-market fit with the space supply chain, a budget for stand costs, and a team ready to execute a structured lead-generation and networking plan

    Best for

Space component suppliers, subsystem manufacturers, launch service providers, ground systems companies, engineering service firms, and national pavilion participants seeking direct access to European prime contractors, space agencies, and commercial buyers

    Min. budget

    $8,000.00

    Timeline

4–6 months for booth design, logistics, team briefing, and marketing collateral preparation; early booking essential as space is limited

    Risks

Booth space is in high demand and the 2026 edition is the final one in Bremen before the move to Frankfurt — availability may be constrained

Return on investment depends on pre-show marketing and B2B meeting scheduling; passive exhibiting yields limited results

Visa processing for international teams can take 15–45 days — apply early

    skip

Your objectives are outside the space industry, you cannot justify the travel and time investment, or you are unable to secure visa or budget approval in time. Consider planning for the 2027 Frankfurt edition instead

    Best for

Professionals whose products or services are not aligned with the space supply chain, those facing prohibitive travel costs or visa challenges, or those whose business cycle makes November 2026 impractical

    Timeline

    Not applicable

    Risks

Missing out on the final Bremen edition and the opportunity to connect with 700+ exhibitors before the event relocates to Frankfurt in 2027

Competitors who attend may gain a networking and intelligence advantage
