    Testimonials

I must admit that never more than in the 2025 edition did we have the feeling that everything met the expectations of visitors and exhibitors, who experienced the fair in a positive, relaxed way. Once again SICAM demonstrated that fairs can be done differently, proactively, looking first and foremost at people's satisfaction.

For several editions now SICAM has been an unmissable appointment for all the players in the supply chain. All industry professionals come to SICAM, undoubtedly a source of pride for us organisers, though the real credit goes to the appeal of all those who choose to exhibit in Pordenone.

Key market insights, trends, news and related events to help you understand the bigger picture.

    Why it matters

SICAM is the International Exhibition of Components, Accessories and Semi-finished Products for the Furniture Industry, described by its organiser as a mature, well-established trade show recognized by industry professionals worldwide as playing an essential role: every October it provides an opportunity to meet, exchange ideas and explore new developments. The 2026 edition, the 17th, occupies 20,000 net square meters with 700 exhibitors, 32% from outside Italy, and expects attendance in line with the previous edition's 24,000 visitors representing 9,300 companies, 39% from 112 countries. Industry trends

Key trends shaping this market and its wider industry.

    01

    Sustainability as a Production Requirement

Circular economy practices, recycled materials, and low-carbon supply chains have moved from marketing claims to core production requirements. The presence of bamboo-based composites, recycled plastics, and zero-VOC coatings at major furniture fairs increased by approximately 30% in 2026. Material innovation competition now centres on commercialising circular economy solutions and bio-based raw materials.

    Source
    02

    Smart Furniture and IoT Integration

Smart furniture has moved beyond gimmicks into practical applications. IoT integration, AI-driven sleep systems, adaptive ergonomic workspaces, and connected home solutions are becoming mainstream. The global smart furniture market is the fastest-growing segment, projected at 10.2% annual growth in 2026, with AI as a central driver.

    Source
    03

    Supply Chain Rebalancing and Nearshoring

Global furniture supply chains are shifting from purely global sourcing to regional hubs and nearshoring strategies. Tariff pressures, rising logistics costs, and geopolitical tensions are accelerating this transformation. Italian furniture companies are diversifying export markets toward Gulf countries, Turkey, and Canada, which entered the Top 10 destinations for Italian furniture exports in 2025.

    Source
    04

    Natural Materials and Tactile Surfaces

Furniture design in 2026 marks a return to natural materials, textured surfaces, and three-dimensional geometric forms. Chunkier weaves in rattan and seagrass, matte natural textures, striped or grooved surfaces, and organic shapes dominate. The aesthetic direction leans minimal, with calming colours and biophilic design elements reflecting a desire for grounded, sensory living spaces.

    05

    Tariff Pressures Reshaping Global Trade

New tariff frameworks introduced in 2025 are significantly impacting global furniture trade in 2026. Italian furniture exports declined 13.1% at the start of 2026, with European markets down 9% and non-EU markets down 17.4%. US tariffs on Chinese furniture reached 35-50%, accelerating the China+1 strategy and production shifts to Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries.
