    Weather

February is the coldest month in Kortrijk and inland West Flanders, with daytime highs typically around 6-7 C, night-time lows near 0 C and regular frost on clear nights. Expect overcast skies, wind-driven drizzle and short showers on roughly half the days, with occasional sleet or light snow that rarely settles. The fair is indoors at Kortrijk Xpo, but queues, car parks and the walk from the De Lijn Xpo stop are outdoors, so a windproof waterproof layer with a hood and warm mid-layer matters more than an umbrella in coastal wind. These are climatological averages for late February, not a forecast: check a Belgian weather service in the week before you travel.

    Plan for the climate

    Check temperatures and pack accordingly

    Venue connectivity

Belgium has dense 4G and 5G coverage from Proximus, Orange Belgium and Telenet/Base, including Kortrijk and the Hoog Kortrijk district around the venue, so calls and data on a European SIM generally work without trouble. EU roam-like-at-home rules apply to EU/EEA SIM cards; visitors from outside the EU should buy a prepaid data SIM at Brussels Airport or in a Kortrijk phone shop, or arrange an eSIM before departure. Deal halls of this size can be congested at peak hours, so download the exhibitor list and hall plan for offline use and save your badge QR code locally. Mains power is 230 V at 50 Hz with type C and E sockets, so UK, US and most Asian plugs need an adapter; bring a power bank for a full day of scanning and photographing stands. Wi-Fi availability for visitors inside Kortrijk Xpo is set per event, so confirm with the organiser rather than assuming it.

    Cultural notes

Useful information to help you have a smooth and respectful visit.

    Language on the floor

Kortrijk is in Dutch-speaking Flanders, so stand staff and visitors usually open in Dutch, switch to French with Walloon visitors and to English with international guests. Product literature and safety data sheets are frequently available in Dutch, French and English; ask for the English version if a technical term matters.

    Meeting style

Belgian buyers tend to be punctual and appointment-driven, and they expect technical detail rather than broad sales claims. A short scheduled meeting with a named contact beats an unscheduled pitch, and follow-up within a few days is read as competence rather than pressure.

    Cards, cash and tipping

Card and contactless payment are standard in Kortrijk, including at the venue and on De Lijn where contactless is accepted; cash is used less and less. Service is normally included in Belgian restaurant bills, and rounding up or leaving a few euros is enough for good service.

    Hours and Sunday rhythm

Shops in Kortrijk generally close by 18:00 on weekdays and are limited on Sundays, while restaurants serve later into the evening. Plan dinner bookings for a show evening, since the centre's better tables fill quickly when a fair is in town.

    Getting around politely

Belgians queue and let passengers off first on buses and trains, and quiet compartments are genuinely quiet. Greet staff on entering a shop or restaurant with a short 'goeiedag' or 'bonjour'; it is expected rather than optional.

    Flights

    Destination: BRU

Book Brussels Airport (BRU) as the default gateway for Kortrijk: it has the widest choice of carriers and the simplest rail connection from the station under the terminal to Kortrijk, roughly 1 h 20 min to 1 h 40 min for an approximate EUR 16-26 second-class single. Lille Lesquin (LIL) is closer by road at about 45-50 km and can be the better pick if you are flying from France and continuing by cross-border train. Brussels South Charleroi (CRL) is the low-cost option but adds about 1 h 30 min by road or coach, and Ostend-Bruges (OST) has limited seasonal service. Compare the total door-to-venue time rather than the ticket alone, and for Paris travellers compare rail to Lille or Kortrijk against the air fare. February weather can delay short-haul morning departures, so book an arrival the day before a single-day fair where the schedule allows, and confirm baggage and cancellation terms on the fare you choose.

    Transport

Get to the venue and around the city with these options.

Airport → venue: Primary gateways: Brussels Airport (BRU). Allow road or rail time to Kortrijk Xpo; on-site parking is usually available at major exhibition venues.

Hotel → venue: Precinct hotels near Kortrijk Xpo: Kortrijk Xpo, about 400 m from the halls: ibis Styles Kortrijk Expo; Kortrijk Xpo, about 590 m from the halls: Bell Expo - Kortrijk; Kortrijk city centre, about 2.3 km from the venue: ibis Kortrijk Centrum.

Ride-hail: Ride-hailing coverage in Kortrijk is much thinner than in Brussels or Antwerp, and app availability changes, so open the app before you rely on a car and expect longer pickup times at the venue than in the city centre. Traditional taxi firms and pre-booked shuttles are the dependable option for the Brussels Airport to Kortrijk Xpo transfer (approximately EUR 150-200 per vehicle). For the short station-to-venue hop, a metered taxi is roughly EUR 12-18, but De Lijn line 2 is faster and cheaper at peak times. Book the return trip in advance on a show evening, since demand spikes when the halls close.

Public transit: Kortrijk station is the hub: De Lijn bus line 2 connects it with the Xpo stop and the Hoog Kortrijk district in a short ride, with a single ticket around EUR 2.50 and a day pass around EUR 8, bought in the De Lijn app or by contactless card. From Brussels Airport, SNCB/NMBS trains run south with one change to Kortrijk in roughly 1 h 20 min to 1 h 40 min; Kortrijk also sits on the intercity lines towards Ghent, Bruges and Antwerp, so day trips by rail are straightforward. Cross-border local trains link Kortrijk with Lille Flandres for roughly EUR 5-9. Timetables and frequencies vary by day of the week, so check the SNCB/NMBS and De Lijn planners for the exact show date and allow a generous buffer for the first morning departure.

Parking: Kortrijk Xpo is a motorway-adjacent exhibition complex with its own surface car parks around the halls, which is how most Belgian visitors arrive from Ghent, Bruges, Antwerp and Lille. Daily parking rates are set by the venue and are not published in the show materials we hold; budget an approximate EUR 5-10 per day and confirm the current tariff with Kortrijk Xpo. On a single-day fair the nearest lots fill during the morning, so arrive ahead of the published opening time. Visitors with reduced mobility should ask the organiser in advance about reserved bays near the entrances. EV drivers should check charger availability with the venue rather than assuming a free post on a busy show day; the alternative is to park in Kortrijk centre and take De Lijn line 2 to the Xpo stop.

    Plan your trip

    Planning

Best day to visit: Day 2 (mid-show)

Mid-show days at See Days usually combine full exhibitor attendance with scheduled B2B meetings, before early pack-down on the final day.

    T-1

Register on see-days.be and save the badge QR code to your phone and to your email so a dead battery does not strand you at the Kortrijk Xpo entrance.

    T-2

Book a hotel close to the halls: ibis Styles Kortrijk Expo (about 400 m) or Bell Expo - Kortrijk (about 590 m) fill first for a single-show-day event, so reserve before the two-week mark.

    T-3

Book the flight or rail leg. Brussels Airport (BRU) plus the SNCB/NMBS train to Kortrijk is the standard route; Lille Lesquin is the alternative if you are flying from France.

    T-4

Install the De Lijn app and test the line 2 route from Kortrijk station to the Xpo stop, storing a local taxi number as a fallback for the evening.

    T-5

Write down the two or three prevention projects you want to close this year, for example a machine-guarding upgrade, a waste-sorting redesign or an energy audit, so you can screen exhibitors against a real brief.

    T-6

Check visa and passport validity. Non-EU passports that need a Schengen visa should already be in the application pipeline, as consulates commonly need at least 15 calendar days and often more.

    T-7

Download or print the exhibitor list and hall plan and mark ten priority stands, mixing PPE, fire and emergency, ergonomics, environment and energy so the day covers several budget lines.

    T-8

Confirm your travel insurance covers trade-fair attendance and any demo equipment you intend to handle on supplier stands.

    T-9

Pack business cards, a charged power bank, a light bag for brochures and a waterproof layer: February in West Flanders delivers wind-driven rain between halls and car parks.

    T-10

Re-check the SNCB/NMBS timetable and the De Lijn line 2 departure times, and confirm the venue opening hour on the organiser site before setting an alarm.

    FAQs & glossary

    Answers

    Frequently asked

When and where do SEE Days take place?
The 2027 edition is scheduled for 18 February 2027 at Kortrijk Xpo in Kortrijk, West Flanders, Belgium. Check see-days.be for the confirmed opening hours and the hall layout before you book travel, since single-day fairs often open only for a morning and afternoon block.
    What is SEE Days about?
It is a Belgian trade fair for prevention, safety, health, environment and energy at work: personal protective equipment and fall protection, machine safety and CE conformity, fire and emergency equipment, hazardous-substance management, ergonomics, waste and recycling, energy-efficiency technology, plus the training, consultancy and software services that support the same departments.
    Who should visit SEE Days?
Prevention advisors and QHSE managers, facility and maintenance managers, energy and environmental coordinators, HR and well-being officers, and buyers of protective equipment or safety services from Belgian industry, construction, logistics, healthcare and public administration. Consultants and training providers also attend to track what competitors are launching.
Do I need to register in advance?
Registration for the 2027 edition is handled through the organiser's site, see-days.be. Pre-registering and saving the badge QR code to your phone avoids the manual data entry at the Kortrijk Xpo entrance. Entry conditions, opening hours and any visitor fee are published by the organiser and can change, so confirm on the official page before travelling.
Is SEE Days open to everyone or trade-only?
It is a professional fair aimed at employers, prevention services and buyers rather than the general public. Students and job seekers should ask the organiser about access conditions in advance, as many Belgian safety fairs include a recruitment or education corner on part of the floor.
How do I get from Brussels Airport to Kortrijk Xpo?
Take the SNCB/NMBS train from Brussels Airport-Zaventem south to Kortrijk (typically one change in Brussels or Ghent, roughly 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes in total), then De Lijn bus line 2 from Kortrijk station towards the Xpo stop. A direct taxi or pre-booked transfer from BRU takes about an hour by road and is the expensive option.
Is there public transport from Kortrijk station to the venue?
Yes. De Lijn bus line 2 connects Kortrijk station with the Xpo stop and the Hoog Kortrijk district, a short ride from the centre. Buy a single or day ticket in the De Lijn app or by contactless card; drivers no longer sell every ticket type on board.
Can I park at Kortrijk Xpo?
Kortrijk Xpo has its own car parks directly around the halls, which is the usual choice for visitors arriving by car from Ghent, Bruges, Lille or Antwerp. Daily rates are set by the venue and are not published in the show materials we hold, so check the venue site and arrive early on a single-day fair where the morning peak fills the nearest lots.
Can I stay within walking distance of the venue?
Yes, the closest options are the ibis Styles Kortrijk Expo (about 400 m) and Bell Expo - Kortrijk (about 590 m). City-centre hotels such as ibis Kortrijk Centrum and Parkhotel Kortrijk are about 2.3 km away and can be reached by bus line 2, taxi or a 30-minute walk. Book early because a one-day fair concentrates demand into the night before.
    Which airports serve Kortrijk?
Brussels Airport (BRU) is the main scheduled gateway with the simplest rail connection to Kortrijk. Lille Lesquin (LIL) is closer by road for travellers from France, Brussels South Charleroi (CRL) is the low-cost option at about 1.5 hours by car, and Ostend-Bruges (OST) has limited seasonal service. Confirm transfers and drive times before booking.
Is the venue accessible for visitors with reduced mobility?
Kortrijk Xpo is a modern exhibition complex with level access between halls, and Belgian fair organisers generally provide reserved parking near entrances on request. Contact the organiser in advance through see-days.be to arrange assistance, a wheelchair loan or a nearer parking bay, since these are allocated per event.
Why does a safety fair cover energy and environment too?
Belgian prevention departments are usually responsible for environment and energy reporting as well as worker safety, so the same visitor buys PPE, waste containers, emissions monitoring and energy-efficiency retrofits. That combined scope is what lets a QHSE team cover several budget lines in one day at Kortrijk Xpo.

    Glossary

    1
    QHSE
Quality, Health, Safety and Environment: the combined management discipline that many SEE Days exhibitors build software, audits and training around. Belgian companies often fold prevention, environment and energy into one QHSE department.
    2
    Prevention advisor (preventieadviseur)
The legally mandated safety role in Belgian companies, appointed at levels from basic to level 1 for higher-risk sites. Much of the show floor is aimed at the people who hold or train for this function.
    3
    Risk inventory and evaluation (RI&E)
A documented assessment of workplace hazards and the control measures taken for each one. Software, consultancy and measurement tools for RI&E are a recurring theme at safety fairs in Kortrijk.
    4
    PPE (personal protective equipment)
Equipment worn by the worker: helmets, hearing defenders, respiratory masks, gloves, safety footwear, hi-vis clothing and fall harnesses. PPE ranks below collective measures in the hierarchy of prevention, which is why machine guarding and extraction are shown alongside it.
    5
    Hierarchy of prevention
The legal order of control measures: eliminate the hazard, substitute it, engineer it out (guarding, extraction), organise the work, and only then rely on PPE. Exhibitors use it to justify upgrades to machinery and ventilation rather than extra protective kit.
    6
    Lockout-tagout (LOTO)
A procedure and device set that isolates energy sources before maintenance so a machine cannot restart unexpectedly. LOTO locks, hasps and padlock sets sit in the electrical-safety product group at the fair.
    7
    CE marking and machine guarding
The EU conformity route for machinery, defined by the Machinery Directive and its successor regulation, plus the fixed guards, interlocks and light curtains used to reach conformity. Belgian buyers routinely arrive with a guarding or conformity file to close.
    8
    REACH
The EU chemicals regulation (registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction) that governs which substances may be used in industrial processes. Hazardous-substance management exhibitors map REACH restrictions onto the products stored on site.
    9
    CLP labelling
The EU classification, labelling and packaging rules behind hazard pictograms, signal words and safety data sheets. Correct CLP labels on drums and canisters are a frequent gap spotted during workplace inspections.
    10
    Occupational accident and incident reporting
The record-keeping that Belgian employers must maintain for work accidents and near-misses, feeding into insurance and prevention reporting. Case-management and reporting software appears in the safety-services zone.
    11
    Ergonomics and manual handling
Designing tasks, lifting aids, height-adjustable benches and matting to reduce musculoskeletal strain, the largest single cause of long-term work incapacity in Belgium. Ergonomics suppliers are typically grouped with workplace-furniture exhibitors.
    12
    Energy audit (ISO 50001 route)
A structured review of a site's energy use that identifies savings in lighting, compressed air, heating and heat recovery. The energy-efficiency exhibitors at SEE Days sell audits, measurement kit and retrofit hardware to facility and energy managers.
    13
    Circular economy and waste sorting
Waste streams, sorting stations and recycling or reuse routes that keep materials out of residual waste. Belgian sites face regional sorting obligations, so container, baler and collection-service suppliers exhibit here.
    14
    Environmental monitoring
Continuous measurement of air quality, dust, VOCs, noise and emissions in the working environment. Instrument vendors demonstrate handheld and fixed sensors that feed QHSE dashboards.
    15
    Well-being at work
The psychosocial and organisational side of prevention: stress, workload, burnout, return-to-work support. Belgian legislation obliges employers to address it, which is why health-screening and well-being providers sit alongside physical safety suppliers.
    16
    Safety culture and behaviour-based safety
Programmes that use observation, coaching and leading indicators to change how people actually work, rather than adding equipment. Training firms and consultancies at the show sell audits, e-learning and toolbox-meeting formats in Dutch, French and English.
