    Event overview

    Overview

Scanpack is Northern Europe's leading international packaging exhibition and congress, held triennially at the Swedish Exhibition and Congress Centre (Svenska Mässan) in Gothenburg, Sweden. Established in 1964 and celebrating more than six decades of industry leadership, Scanpack convenes the entire packaging value chain—from raw material producers, biopolymer innovators, and packaging machinery manufacturers to brand owners, converters, and major European retail conglomerates.

The four-day trade fair showcases state-of-the-art packaging technology, automated converting machinery, secondary and tertiary transport packaging, smart connected labels, and circular bio-based materials. With sustainability integrated across every facet of production, design, and logistics, Scanpack serves as the primary gateway for global suppliers targeting the affluent Scandinavian market and Nordic enterprises aligning with the European Union's Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).

    TL;DR

    1. 1Triennial Nordic Benchmark: Scanpack is Northern Europe's largest packaging exhibition, convening 400+ international exhibitors and over 13,000 professional buyers every three years in Gothenburg.
    2. 2High Commercial Authority: Over 85% of attendees directly make or influence purchasing decisions, with 80% actively planning commercial investments within 12 months.
    3. 3Full Value-Chain Spectrum: Spans raw materials, bio-polymers, high-speed converting machinery, robotics, end-of-line secondary packaging, and smart RFID labeling.
    4. 4Regulatory & PPWR Hub: Features specialized technical stages addressing European Union circular economy directives, PFAS elimination, and mono-material recyclability.
    5. 5Integrated City-Center Venue: Hosted at Svenska Mässan, fully interconnected with the 1,200-room Gothia Towers hotel and accessible within 20 minutes from Gothenburg Landvetter Airport.

    Why visit

Visiting Scanpack delivers an unmatched strategic perspective on the fast-evolving European packaging landscape. Packaging engineers, brand directors, sustainability leads, and procurement executives gain direct hands-on access to live demonstrations of high-speed filling, cartoning, and palletizing machinery. Visitors can benchmark hundreds of sustainable paperboard and bio-polymer substrates, attend accredited masterclasses on PPWR compliance, and connect with premier Nordic converters and European technology suppliers. With two specialized educational stages—Packaging Plaza for commercial strategy and Scanpack Pioneers for disruptive innovation—the event provides immediate actionable intelligence to optimize production line efficiency, eliminate virgin fossil plastics, and satisfy stringent Nordic consumer expectations.

    Why exhibit

Exhibiting at Scanpack positions suppliers directly in front of the most capital-intensive and environmentally progressive packaging buyers in Europe. Nordic brand owners across food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, personal care, retail, and e-commerce attend specifically to source capital machinery and sustainable substrates. With 85% of attendees wielding direct purchasing power and 80% concluding deals within 12 months, Scanpack offers exceptional return on investment. The triennial cadence ensures concentrated demand and pent-up procurement budgets. Exhibitors benefit from turnkey booth packages, integrated digital lead scanning via Expostart, and unmatched networking in a world-class exhibition facility seamlessly connected to Gothia Towers hotel.

    QUESTION 1 OF 8

What is your primary commercial objective regarding the packaging sector?

    Decision matrix

Compare participation options side by side to choose the best fit for your objectives.

    visit

You need supplier discovery, sustainability benchmarking, or a low-risk first look at Scandinavian packaging demand before exhibiting.

    Best for

Packaging procurement directors, sustainability leads, and R&D engineers evaluating Nordic suppliers, live machinery demos, and PPWR-readiness solutions without committing to a stand.

    Min. budget

    $4,500.00

    Timeline

4–6 weeks (book Gothia Towers early; pre-schedule matchmaking meetings 3–4 weeks out)

    Risks

Triennial cadence — competitor relationships built here may not refresh for three years

Prime matchmaking slots fill if booked late

Venue-adjacent hotels sell out and raise trip cost

    exhibit

You sell into food & beverage, pharma, personal care, or e-commerce packaging and can staff a 12+ sqm stand with technical demos.

    Best for

Packaging machinery OEMs, substrate suppliers, converting equipment makers, and sustainability-tech vendors targeting Nordic brand owners with active capex budgets.

    Min. budget

    $55,000.00

    Timeline

6–9 months (stand design, freight, staff scheduling, and pre-show outreach)

    Risks

High fixed stand cost for a triennial show

Nordic buyers expect strong sustainability proof points

Long machinery sales cycles may not close within 12 months

    skip

Your ICP is not in packaging procurement, travel budget is under ~$4,500, or you already cover Nordic buyers via interpack/Fachpack with a local partner.

    Best for

Companies outside the packaging value chain, teams with no Nordic market ambition, or organisations that cannot allocate at least one week of travel budget.

    Timeline

    Not applicable

    Risks

Missing the triennial window if competitors establish Nordic relationships

Limited virtual substitutes for live machinery demonstrations
