    Overview

Organised by MAZ Messe- und Ausstellungszentrum Mühlengeez GmbH since 1991, the Oldtimertage Mühlengeez are held on the 170,000 sqm action and exhibition grounds of the Messegelände Mühlengeez, Leute Wiese 10-11, 18276 Gülzow-Prüzen OT Mühlengeez.

The organiser presents the event as a combination unique in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern built on three pillars: the Oldtimertreffen, where privately owned historic vehicles — from mopeds and motorcycles to tractors, trucks and US cars — are displayed in the open air; an Ersatzteilemarkt (spare-parts market) for collectors, restorers and dealers; and an exhibition around the themes 'Fahrzeuge, Zubehör und Freizeit'

    Edition recap

The 2025 Oldtimertage Mühlengeez (7th edition, 10–11 May 2025) drew almost 5,000 visitors and displayed 1,094 vehicles on the exhibition grounds. The spectrum ranged from US cruisers and mopeds to motorcycles and historic fire engines and tractors. Private owners and clubs presented vehicles from different eras. A parts market complemented the offer for collectors and restorers. For children there was a traffic garden to practise road rules, and adults could try a driving simulator demonstrating the effects of alcohol and drugs on reaction time. The Freestyle Motocross team MotoRockitz around Tobias Finck provided the show programme. Awards were presented on the programme stage, including for the technically best-restored classic and in the 'Zuschauerliebling' (audience favourite) category. Bauer Korl moderated a skill competition at the 'Norddeutsche Oldtimermeisterschaften'. The event was organised by MAZ Messe- und Ausstellungszentrum GmbH. Managing Director Christin Mondesi announced that the next Oldtimertage are planned for the second May weekend 2027, on 8 and 9 May.

    Next edition outlook

    2026
    confirmed

The organiser has announced that the next Oldtimertage Mühlengeez will take place on the second May weekend 2027, on 8 and 9 May 2027, at the Messe- und Ausstellungszentrum Mühlengeez. Managing Director Christin Mondesi confirmed the dates at the close of the 2025 edition

Continuation of the three-pillar format (Oldtimertreffen, Ersatzteilemarkt, exhibition on vehicles, accessories and leisure) Use of the new Halle 4, opened in September 2025, for exhibition and event purposes Further development of the family-oriented programme with skill games and show acts

    Impact

    A bigger and stronger platform

The Oldtimertage Mühlengeez have established themselves as a fixed date in the northern German classic-vehicle calendar since their debut in 2018. The event consistently draws between 5,000 and 7,000 visitors per edition and displays over 1,000 historic vehicles, ranging from mopeds and motorcycles to tractors, trucks and US cruisers. The unique combination of an Oldtimertreffen, an Ersatzteilemarkt and an exhibition on vehicles, accessories and leisure has no equivalent in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The event is explicitly family-oriented, with free entry for oldtimer drivers arriving in their own vehicles, a Verkehrsgarten for children, and a broad catering offer. The organising team under Managing Director Christin Mondesi has expanded the show programme over the years, adding freestyle motocross acts, tuning special shows and the Norddeutsche Oldtimermeisterschaften skill competition. The venue itself has benefited from investment, with the new Halle 4 opening in September 2025 representing the first permanent building on the Messe- und Ausstellungszentrum grounds

    Audience quality

    High-value decision-makers

The visitor base is a mix of dedicated classic-vehicle enthusiasts, restorers, collectors and families from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the wider northern German region. Attendance figures from 2021 to 2025 show a loyal core audience of 5,000–7,000 visitors per edition, with the 2023 edition peaking at almost 7,000. The event appeals to both traditional oldtimer collectors and a younger generation interested in youngtimers and tuning, reflected by the tuning special show introduced in cooperation with Car Fanatics Meck-Pom. The family orientation — with a traffic garden for children, a driving simulator and free entry for oldtimer drivers — broadens the audience beyond specialist collectors. Exhibitor feedback from the spare-parts market, such as motorcycle and parts dealer Peter Klinger, indicates good customer traffic and a consultative buying atmosphere. The event also attracts regional and national media coverage, including Nordkurier, Ostsee-Zeitung, dpa and wismar.fm, reflecting its standing in the regional event landscape

    Exhibitor outcomes

    Real business growth

Exhibitors at the Oldtimertage Mühlengeez reach a concentrated audience of classic-vehicle enthusiasts with direct purchasing intent. The Ersatzteilemarkt is a core draw for collectors and restorers seeking parts and accessories, and trader feedback from the 2024 edition describes good customer footfall and active buying. For a regional event with 5,000–7,000 visitors and over 1,000 vehicles on display, exhibitors gain access to a qualified audience at comparatively low cost compared with national trade fairs. The event's explicit focus on spare parts, accessories, specialist literature, insurance and classic-car services aligns closely with exhibitor offerings. While no formal ROI data is published by the organiser, the consistent participation of repeat exhibitors such as Peter Klinger's Oldtimer-Garage since the early editions suggests a positive commercial experience. The organiser's decision to expand the show programme and invest in the venue (Halle 4) indicates a long-term commitment to growing the event's appeal

Key market insights, trends, news and related events to help you understand the bigger picture.

Germany — national classic-vehicle market with a strong regional focus on Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and northern Germany

    Why it matters

The Oldtimertage Mühlengeez occupies a distinctive position in the German classic-vehicle calendar: it is the only event in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern that combines an Oldtimertreffen, an Ersatzteilemarkt and an exhibition on vehicles, accessories and leisure in a single weekend. For a regional audience of collectors, restorers, dealers and families, it provides direct access to a market that is structurally growing — Germany's oldtimer population reached a record 923,538 vehicles in early 2026, and the parts and workshop segment alone is worth €3.5–3.6 billion annually. The event's explicit family orientation and free entry for oldtimer drivers arriving in their own historic vehicle lower the barrier for participation, while the Ersatzteilemarkt connects private enthusiasts and specialist traders in a region with a dense DDR-classic and youngtimer culture. Against the backdrop of a generational shift toward 1980s and 1990s vehicles, the Mühlengeez format gives exhibitors and dealers access to both traditional oldtimer collectors and a younger, growing audience of youngtimer fans. With 1,094 vehicles displayed and almost 5,000 visitors in 2026, the event delivers a concentrated, qualified audience at a fraction of the cost of national trade fairs like Techno Classica or Retro Classics

    Industry trends

Key trends shaping this market and its wider industry.

    01

    Record oldtimer population in Germany

The number of registered historic vehicles in Germany reached a new record of 923,538 at the start of 2026, up 4.0% year on year and more than double the level of ten years ago, according to the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA). More than 822,500 of these are passenger cars with oldtimer status. The growth trend has continued uninterrupted despite broader debates about the future of individual mobility

    Source
    02

Generational shift toward youngtimers and 1990s classics

The classic-car scene is getting younger and interests are shifting. According to HUK-COBURG, 13.8% of insured oldtimer owners are now younger than their vehicles. DEUVET President Ekkehard Pott reports that vehicles from the 1990s and early 2000s are in high demand, while interest in 1960s and older models is declining. New entrants typically favour cars that are 25 to 32 years old — models from their own childhood. This shift is reflected in the market: values for 1950s–1970s models have fallen, with the BMW 'Barockengel' down nearly 20% since 2019 and the Jaguar XK 140 OTS down almost 24%

    Source
    03

Billion-euro market for parts, services and restoration

The German market for maintenance, repair, bodywork, paint and tyres on classic vehicles is estimated at around €3.5–3.6 billion for oldtimers, with a further €4.5 billion for youngtimers. The broader market for young and oldtimers represents an annual revenue volume of €14.1 billion and has grown by an average of 8% per year over the past five years, now encompassing approximately 6.5 million vehicles

    Source
    04

Spare parts availability and skills shortage as bottlenecks

While 87% of surveyed workshops rate the availability of maintenance parts as good or very good, the supply of electronics and body panels remains problematic for many marques. The shortage of skilled technicians and the need for knowledge transfer are identified as major challenges for the classic-car sector, alongside the changing political debate around historic vehicles and their environmental impact

    Source
    05

    Regional classic-car culture in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has developed into a recognised hub for classic-vehicle enthusiasts. The region hosts multiple oldtimer meetings and rallies — including the Oldtimerrallye at the phanTECHNIKUM in Wismar, the Oldtimer- und Traktorentreffen in Alt Schwerin, and the MZ-Sommertreffen in Güstrow — and is known for its concentration of East German (DDR) classics such as Trabant, Wartburg, Simson and MZ. The Oldtimertage Mühlengeez is the largest and most established of these regional gatherings

    Source
    06

Diversification of event formats and experience-driven programming

Classic-car events across Germany are broadening their appeal beyond static vehicle displays. Formats now include freestyle motocross shows, tuning specials, skill competitions, driving simulators and family-oriented activities. The Klassikwelt Bodensee 2026 added a Vintage Demo Race with 12 DTM icons and an airshow, while the Oldtimertage Mühlengeez expanded its Motocross-Freestyle programme for 2026 with additional stunt riders and a trial rider. This trend reflects organisers' efforts to attract younger audiences and families alongside traditional collectors

Citizens of Australia, Israel, Japan, Canada, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the USA can enter Germany without a visa for short stays up to 90 days for business or tourism purposes. Nationals of many other countries require a Schengen short-stay visa (Type C). Germany accepts ATA Carnets for temporary admission of goods. From 1 June 2026, the digital ATA Carnet (eCarnet) is mandatory in the EU, Switzerland, Norway and the United Kingdom. Applications are made online via the e-ata portal of the relevant Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) in Germany and via the ATA Carnet app. Paper carnets issued before this date remain valid until their stated expiry date. The ATA Carnet covers trade fair and exhibition goods, professional equipment and product samples, but not consumables such as foodstuffs. It is valid for a maximum of 12 months and eliminates the need for customs deposits in the country of import. In Germany, ATA Carnets are issued exclusively by the relevant IHK

    Cultural notes

Useful information to help you have a smooth and respectful visit.

    Güstrow and the Barlach legacy

The nearby town of Güstrow is one of Mecklenburg's oldest and most culturally significant towns. It is home to the Ernst Barlach Museums, which preserve the world's largest estate of the expressionist sculptor, writer and artist Ernst Barlach across the Gertruden Chapel, the Studio House and the exhibition centre. The Güstrow Cathedral houses Barlach's famous floating sculpture 'Der Schwebende'. Güstrow Castle, a jewel of Renaissance architecture in northern Germany, is currently undergoing extensive restoration, though its reconstructed garden remains open to the public

    DDR-classic culture in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has a strong following for historic vehicles from the former East Germany (DDR). Trabant, Wartburg, Simson, MZ and Barkas models enjoy particular popularity, and the region hosts multiple dedicated meetings, including the Güstrower MZ-Sommertreffen and the DDR-Oldtimer- und Simsontreffen. The Oldtimertage Mühlengeez reflects this regional culture with a broad spectrum of mopeds, motorcycles and cars from both East and West Germany

Mecklenburg Lake District and Baltic coast

The venue lies in the Mecklenburg Lake District, a region of over 1,000 lakes, and is within easy driving distance of the Baltic coast. Scenic routes such as the Fischland-Schleife and the Mecklenburg Lake District offer driving experiences well suited to historic vehicles. The state tourism board actively promotes oldtimer-friendly hotels and itineraries

    Flights

    Destination: Rostock-Laage (RLG)

Rostock-Laage is the closest airport but has limited scheduled services, primarily to Munich and Frankfurt. Visa

Germany is part of the Schengen area. Whether a visa is required depends on nationality. EU/EFTA citizens and nationals of Australia, Israel, Japan, Canada, South Korea, New Zealand, the UK and the USA do not need a visa for short stays up to 90 days. Nationals of many other countries require a Schengen short-stay visa (Type C), which must be applied for in advance at the German diplomatic mission responsible for the applicant's place of residence. The visa allows business activities such as attending trade fairs, meetings and negotiations, but not employment

Processing: 15 calendar days standard; can extend to 30–45 days in peak season

For trade fair exhibitors, required documents typically include an invitation letter from a German business partner or the trade fair organiser, stand confirmation, proof of accommodation, travel medical insurance with minimum €30,000 coverage, employer letter, and bank statements. For trade fair visitors, a printed e-ticket or invitation letter plus proof of business appointments is generally required. Apply at least 8–12 weeks before departure. Visa fees are set in EUR (€90 for adults, €45 for children aged 6–12, free for children under 6) and may vary in local currency at the consulate

    Decision

    Visit, exhibit, or skip?

    Should you go?

Answer these questions to find out whether OLDTIMERTAGE MÜHLENGEEZ 2026 is best for you as a visitor, as an exhibitor, or whether you should skip it. The quiz weighs your interests, budget, travel willingness and goals against what the event actually offers

    QUESTION 1 OF 8

What best describes your interest in classic vehicles?

    Decision matrix

Compare participation options side by side to choose the best fit for your objectives.

    visit

You enjoy classic vehicles, want a family-friendly day out, and are based in or willing to travel to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The event is particularly strong for those interested in DDR classics, mopeds, motorcycles, tractors and US cars

    Best for

Classic-vehicle enthusiasts, collectors, restorers, families and casual visitors who want an affordable, authentic regional event with over 1,000 historic vehicles on display

    Min. budget

    $50.00

    Timeline

No advance planning required beyond booking accommodation if staying overnight. Day visitors can decide on the day

    Risks

The event is largely open-air and May weather in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is changeable — rain is likely

Public transport to the venue is limited, especially on weekends, so a car is the most practical option

Accommodation in Güstrow and Bützow may book up during the event weekend

    exhibit

Your products or services align with classic-vehicle restoration, maintenance or enjoyment, and you want direct access to an engaged regional audience of enthusiasts and collectors in northern Germany

    Best for

Traders in spare parts, accessories, classic-car services, specialist literature, insurance, clothing, toys, model-making and nostalgia products targeting the regional classic-vehicle community

    Min. budget

    $500.00

    Timeline

Contact the organiser at least 3–6 months in advance to secure a stand and arrange logistics. Booth pricing is not published and must be requested directly

    Risks

Booth pricing is not publicly listed, so budget planning requires direct contact with the organiser

The event is regional in scale (5,000–7,000 visitors), which may not suit exhibitors seeking high-volume national or international reach

The venue is in a rural area with limited public transport, so exhibitors should plan their own transport and accommodation

    skip

You need an international trade fair with global exhibitors and buyers, you have no interest in classic vehicles, or the travel to rural Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is impractical for your goals

    Best for

Visitors or exhibitors seeking a large international trade fair, those with no interest in classic vehicles, and businesses targeting mass-market automotive audiences rather than the classic-vehicle niche

    Timeline

Not applicable — skipping requires no planning

    Risks

Skipping means missing a well-established regional event that consistently draws over 1,000 vehicles and thousands of enthusiasts

If your goal is to reach the classic-vehicle community in northern Germany, there are few alternative events of comparable scale in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
