    2026 · 8,000 visitors · 400 exhibitors

NJSBA's April 7 preview says Workshop 2026 will include more than 400 exhibitors, recorded here as a lower-bound organiser forecast of 400. The official exhibitor-list PDF dated Oct. 1 contains 412 directory entries, but that snapshot includes organiser, association, showcase and attraction listings and is not treated as a final audited exhibitor total. NJSBA publishes only a non-numeric expectation of thousands of attendees, so no 2026 visitor count is entered. The floor-area figure is a rounded conversion of 120,000 contiguous square feet and denotes gross event exhibit space, not net sold booth area.

New Jersey / United States K-12 public education

    Why it matters

NJSBA Workshop is the largest professional learning event for public school officials in New Jersey, serving over 1.3 million public school students statewide. The event brings together school board members, superintendents, business administrators, and district decision-makers who control procurement budgets for K-12 products and services. For edtech, facilities, safety, and school services vendors, Workshop 2026 offers direct access to the individuals who evaluate, recommend, and purchase district solutions. With 400+ exhibitors and 8,000+ expected attendees across four days, the event provides a concentrated opportunity to build relationships with. New Jersey's education leadership and demonstrate products that address the sector's most pressing challenges—from AI implementation and cybersecurity to teacher retention and facility modernization.

    Industry trends

Key trends shaping this market and its wider industry.

    01

AI moves from experimentation to implementation in K-12

Schools are shifting from piloting AI tools to embedding them in instruction and administration. CoSN's 2026 Top Topics report identifies generative AI as a key accelerator, while districts increasingly demand evidence that AI add-ons actually improve student learning. Vendors that demonstrate clear impact will win procurement decisions.

    Source
    02

Cybersecurity and student data privacy become core infrastructure

Ransom demands averaged $608,000 for schools globally in Q1 2025, and 82% of K-12 institutions suffered a cyber incident in just 18 months. Student identity theft is now the top concern for 54% of U.S. districts. Districts are moving beyond content filtering to layered, behavior-aware controls and zero-trust architectures.

    Source
    03

Teacher shortages persist but show signs of easing

The share of districts reporting teacher shortages declined from 81% in 2024 to 61% in 2026, yet nearly 40% of 15-year-olds attend schools where principals say shortages hamper instruction. Districts are investing in apprenticeship programs, staffing platforms, and retention tools to address persistent gaps.

    Source
    04

School safety integrates mental health and physical security

Districts are embedding behavioral threat assessment and management programs into multi-tiered systems of support while adopting AI-enabled security systems and wearable panic buttons. Standards such as ASIS International's ANSI-approved School Security Standard are driving consistency across K-12 campuses.

    Source
    05

Aging device fleets drive refresh and managed-service demand

The global installed base of K-12 mobile PCs fell from 142 million in 2022 to 127 million by the end of 2025 as funding tightened. Schools now face ageing device fleets and need procurement strategies, device-as-a-service models, and extended support to make technology last longer.

    Planning

Best day to visit: Tuesday, October 20, 2026

Tuesday offers the longest exhibit-floor window, 9 a.m p.m., the 9 a.m. opening ceremony, a dense full-day training program and the 2 p.m. Timothy Shriver keynote. It provides the strongest single-day mix of learning, supplier discovery and networking. Choose Thursday instead only when the separately registered School Law Forum is the primary objective.

    T-60

Choose individual or district-team registration and secure the school business administrator's purchase order — Official requirement: the school business administrator handles registration and hotel reservations, and incomplete registrations without an attached purchase order are cancelled.

    T-45

Define each attendee's priority outcomes, role coverage and decision questions — Guidance: assign owners for governance, finance, facilities, technology, curriculum, HR, communications and transportation topics so the team does not duplicate sessions.

    T-30

Reserve lodging through AC Central and record cancellation terms — Official deadline: Sept. 19, 2026. As this date has passed, verify availability directly with AC Central and avoid unaffiliated housing solicitations. No refunds or credits apply to hotel changes or cancellations after Oct. 5.

    T-21

Build a personal agenda around required credits, mandated training and active district priorities — Official process: use agenda filters for credit types and ensure the badge is scanned as required to document attendance.

    T-14

Shortlist target exhibitors on the official directory and floor plan, then request focused meetings — Guidance: give each meeting a named problem, budget horizon and next-step question rather than treating the exhibit floor as a general walk-through.

    T-7

Confirm rail, driving, parking or hotel-shuttle plans for each day — Official logistics: convention-center parking is $20 per day and Workshop runs shuttles between contracted hotels and the convention center.

    T-3

Verify badge details and onsite printing responsibilities — Official deadline: the school business administrator can change badge information through Friday, Oct. 16. Badges are printed onsite and must be worn.

    T-1

Prepare a note-taking template, contact-sharing method and 24-hour follow-up plan — Guidance: capture the issue discussed, owner, urgency, next step and due date for every priority session or supplier conversation.

    Decision

    Visit, exhibit, or skip?

    Should you go?

Answer eight event-specific questions about buyer fit, program fit, timing, budget, travel, booth readiness and follow-up.

    QUESTION 1 OF 8

Which role best describes your Workshop 2026 objective?

    Decision matrix

Compare participation options side by side to choose the best fit for your objectives.

    visit

Visit when at least three sessions or suppliers map to active district priorities and the team can assign owners for notes and follow-up.

    Best for

New Jersey school board members, superintendents, business administrators, facilities, technology, curriculum, HR, communications and transportation leaders who need training, credits or supplier research.

    Min. budget

    $638.00

    Timeline

Allow 1 to 3 weeks for agenda planning, approvals and appointments. The official housing deadline was Sept. 19, and badge changes close Oct. 16.

    Risks

Session and exhibit-floor overlap can dilute value without a priority agenda.

Base hotel rates exclude taxes, resort fees and tourism fees, and official room-block availability may be limited after Sept. 19.

The Thursday School Law Forum requires separate registration.

    exhibit

Exhibit only if already contracted, the offer solves a named. New Jersey public-district problem, staff can cover both days and target meetings and follow-up are already organized.

    Best for

Already-contracted suppliers serving. New Jersey K-12 districts with a clear district use case, two-day booth coverage and a measurable follow-up plan.

    Min. budget

    $5,000.00

    Timeline

Only already-contracted exhibitors can proceed. Complete remaining service orders, freight and staff preparation within 1 to 3 weeks; 2026 booth sales are closed.

    Risks

Booth pricing excludes mandatory flooring, furnishings, drayage, electricity, internet, labor, food services and parking.

Advance freight must reach AEX by Oct. 5, and carrier and move-out cutoffs create logistics risk.

Direct selling and order taking are prohibited, so return depends on qualified conversations and rapid follow-up.

New exhibitors cannot reserve a 2026 booth because sales are closed.

    skip

Skip when the audience, program and supplier mix do not match a named initiative, or when travel and follow-up capacity would make participation largely passive.

    Best for

Organizations without. New Jersey public-education fit, a funded 12 to 24 month opportunity, or the capacity to execute meetings and follow-up.

    Min. budget

    Not yet confirmed

    Timeline

No 2026 preparation is needed. Use 2 to 4 weeks after the event to review 2027 opportunities and validate buyer fit.

    Risks

You may miss a concentrated mix of New Jersey school governance, operations and supplier conversations.

Waiting until 2027 can delay relationships tied to near-term district planning cycles.
