    Testimonials

We've been coming to Congress well over 25 years. We come mainly for the interaction with all our clients that we get to meet. A lot of new leads come out of this show. We're a small enough industry that partnerships like this are important and LO provides a forum for us all to meet up together. We love the Congress show for that

Ernest Williams · Territory Sales Manager · Aquascape · 2023

It is my favourite week of the year. There's nowhere else you can go and see this many people in one turn. If you're not here, you're missing out on an opportunity for great education and to expand your business horizons

James Riddell · Area Manager · SiteOne Landscape Supply · 2023

This is actually our first year here at Congress. We're a fairly new company in this industry, so we're just trying to make relationships with people and tell people that we're here. It feels really cool to be a part of this awesome community

    Erin Batty · Representative · Uxbridge Stone & Landscape Supply · 2023

We came to Congress because we wanted to market our products in the best show possible. And this is probably the biggest platform to do just that

    Market context

Key market insights, trends, news and related events to help you understand the bigger picture.

    Canada (primary), North America (secondary)

    Why it matters

Landscape Ontario Congress 2027 matters because it sits at the intersection of a resilient Canadian landscaping industry (revenue of $20.5 billion, growing at 5.1% CAGR) and a period of significant transformation driven by technology adoption, sustainability mandates, and trade policy uncertainty. For buyers, Congress offers a one-stop-shop to compare the latest equipment, tools, materials and supplies from 450+ exhibitors across 8 acres, while accessing education on smart irrigation, ecological restoration, AI-driven maintenance and electric equipment. For exhibitors, the event connects them with 12,000+ attendees annually, 72% of whom influence or make final purchase decisions, and 92% of delegates are most likely to make a purchase within the next 12 months. With the U.S. tariff landscape creating urgency for Canadian horticulture businesses to diversify markets and strengthen domestic supply chains, Congress serves as the critical annual gathering where the Canadian green industry evaluates new suppliers, explores export alternatives, and builds the partnerships needed to navigate economic headwinds. The event's expanding focus on technology-intensive solutions—from IoT-enabled irrigation to battery-powered equipment—positions it as the barometer for the industry's transition from labour-intensive to technology-driven operations.

    Cultural notes

Useful information to help you have a smooth and respectful visit.

    Business Communication Style

Canadian business culture is often described as 'polite but purposeful.' Communication is direct yet polite, and decisions are typically reached through consensus rather than hierarchy. Strategic understatement is valued — confidence is conveyed quietly rather than through assertive claims or visible self-promotion. Criticism is usually delivered with context and tact; blunt criticism without context is often perceived as disrespectful. A nod in a meeting typically means 'I'm listening' rather than 'I agree' — always confirm alignment explicitly before leaving a room.

    Language and Multicultural Context

English is the working language of business in Toronto. Canada is bilingual with English and French as official languages, but French is far less common in Toronto than in Ottawa or Montreal; signage at federal sites and major attractions is bilingual. Toronto is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world, with more than 250 ethnicities and 180 dialects represented. and https://www.skyteam.com/EN/travelResources/cityGuidePdf/YYZ_guide.pdf

    Business Attire and Punctuality

Business attire in Toronto varies by industry. Suits are customary in traditional sectors such as banking, consulting, insurance, and business services. Business casual is common in technology and creative firms. Punctuality is a form of respect — arriving on time means arriving a few minutes early. Consistent lateness registers as a signal that you do not value the other person's time. Handshakes are customary at the start and close of meetings. and https://www.berlitz.com/en-ca/blog/canadian-business-etiquette-soft-skills-corporate-diplomacy

    Networking and Tipping

Canadians do business with people they trust, and trust is built before the business conversation. Networking in Toronto tends to be more casual and relaxed, with genuine curiosity about personal interests beyond work. Tipping is standard at 15-20% for good service at restaurants and bars. Many restaurants do not take reservations, so arrive early or expect a wait at popular spots. and https://www.getyourguide.com/zh-cn/explorer/toronto-ttd177/first-time-in-toronto/

    Practical guides

    Visitor & Exhibitor Essentials

Everything needed to arrive prepared, navigate the event, and make the visit productive.

    Flights

Destination: Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ)

Toronto Pearson is the second-busiest airport in North America by international traffic and serves as the primary gateway for Congress attendees. Direct flights are available from most major North American cities. For European and Asian travellers, direct services operate from London, Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Seoul. Book flights into YYZ rather than Billy Bishop (YTZ) or Buffalo (BUF) for the most convenient arrival. January travel may be affected by winter weather delays — consider booking flexible fares or arriving a day early.

    Visa

Entry requirements depend on your nationality. US citizens and green card holders do not need a visa or eTA for business visits. Citizens of visa-exempt countries need an eTA (CAD $7) if arriving by air. Citizens of visa-required countries need a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV, CAD $100 + CAD $85 biometrics). All business visitors must demonstrate that their main source of income and place of business are outside Canada, that their stay is temporary, and that they will not enter the Canadian labour market

    Estimated cost: Not yet confirmed

Processing: eTA: usually minutes, up to 72 hours. TRV: varies by visa office, typically 2–12 weeks. Check IRCC's official processing time tool for current estimates by country

For business visitors attending conferences, trade shows, or meetings, it is strongly recommended to carry a letter of invitation from the event organiser or a Canadian business partner. If the event has been registered with IRCC, the invitation letter may include a Special Event Code that can be used to tag the visa application. Landscape Ontario Congress attendees requiring a visa should contact the organiser (showinfo@locongress.com) for a letter of invitation. The final admission decision is made by a CBSA officer at the port of entry.
