    DTC city bus

Estimated costApprox. INR 10-25 for a single journey (confirm the fare stage with the conductor)

Estimated costApprox. INR 100-200 per day for a car slot at the fairground (confirm the rate at the gate; valet and premium slots cost more)
Best forBharat Mandapam (Pragati Maidan) on-site and surrounding parking

Estimated costOften free or Approx. INR 300-600 per seat when charged; confirm with the hotel front desk
Best forNehru Place and Mahipalpur hotels to Bharat Mandapam

    Weather

Late February is the tail of Delhi's cool, dry winter. Mornings and evenings are chilly, often around 10-13 C, while afternoons are mild and comfortable at roughly 23-25 C, so a jacket for the commute and lighter clothing for the halls works best. Rain is uncommon but a short spell is possible. Air quality is the bigger issue: the National Capital Region can still record poor AQI in February, and the Open-Meteo air-quality forecast near the venue showed a US AQI of about 177 and PM2.5 near 54.7 micrograms per cubic metre, so sensitive travellers should check local advisories daily and carry an N95 mask.

    Plan for the climate

    Check temperatures and pack accordingly

    Venue connectivity

Delhi has wide 4G and 5G coverage on Airtel, Jio and Vi, including Bharat Mandapam and the Nehru Place hotel cluster. Prepaid tourist SIMs are sold at Indira Gandhi International Airport arrival halls against a passport and visa copy, and eSIM plans from international carriers also work. Hotel and venue Wi-Fi exists but is often congested during show hours, so keep a data plan for badge scans and order confirmations. India uses 230 V at 50 Hz with type C, D and M sockets - carry a universal adaptor. Business visitors should keep a printed copy of key contacts and hotel details in case of network congestion at the venue gates.

    Cultural notes

Useful information to help you have a smooth and respectful visit.

    Jewellery trade geography in Delhi

Delhi's jewellery trade clusters are Karol Bagh, Chandni Chowk with Dariba Kalan, and the newer showroom belts in South Delhi and Gurugram. Many wholesale buyers work on prior appointments, so block your Karol Bagh and Chandni Chowk visits around the 20-22 February 2027 fair days rather than leaving them to the last morning.

    Hallmark and purity talk

Indian jewellers discuss purity as karat and tunch, and gold jewellery sold in India carries a BIS hallmark with a six-digit HUID. When a supplier shows a Polki or Kundan set, asking about hallmark, certificate and gross versus net weight is normal trade practice, not an insult.

    Negotiation and making charges

Quotes usually separate metal value, stone value and making charges. Bargaining is expected on making charges and on parcel pricing for loose stones, while metal value tracks the day's gold rate. Confirm whether GST is included before you compare two quotes.

    Business cards and greetings

Exchange business cards with the right hand and treat the card with respect. English is widely used in the jewellery trade, but a few Hindi phrases go a long way. Handshakes are common between men; a polite namaste works in every setting.

    Food, water and hospitality

Vegetarian food is widely available and many suppliers keep vegetarian kitchens. Drink only bottled or filtered water during show days, and accept tea or a sweet only if you intend to continue the conversation - hospitality is part of the sourcing relationship.

    Dress and show-floor etiquette

Smart business dress is the norm at Delhi jewellery fairs - a jacket for men and business or smart-traditional dress for women. Carry photo ID that matches your registration, expect airport-style security screening at the Pragati Maidan gates, and never photograph a stand without asking.

    Visitor & Exhibitor Essentials

Everything needed to arrive prepared, navigate the event, and make the visit productive.

    Flights

    Destination: DEL

Book into Indira Gandhi International (DEL), the only commercial airport serving the Delhi market; Terminal 3 handles most international traffic while Terminals 1 and 2 serve domestic low-cost carriers, so check your terminal before arranging a pickup. The flight captures available for this research returned India domestic and regional itineraries on non-show dates, so no verified long-haul fare can be quoted here - treat any band you see as indicative only and price the 20-22 February 2027 window closer to travel. Delhi is well connected nonstop to Gulf hubs and major Asian gateways and has direct links to European and North American cities, so a one-stop itinerary through a Gulf carrier is often the cheapest long-haul routing. Late February is wedding season in North India, which pushes up domestic fares and hotel rates, so book flights and rooms together as early as your schedule allows.

    Transport

Get to the venue and around the city with these options.

Airport → venue: Primary gateways: Indira Gandhi International (DEL). Allow road or rail time to Bharat Mandapam (Pragati Maidan); on-site parking is usually available at major exhibition venues.

Hotel → venue: Precinct hotels near Bharat Mandapam (Pragati Maidan): Nehru Place: Hotel BlueStone - Nehru Place; Mahipalpur (airport side): Hotel Premier Inn, Mahipalpur (Delhi NCR); Nehru Place: The Oakland Plaza Hotel Nehru Place.

Ride-hail: Uber, Ola and BluSmart all operate in Delhi NCR and are the default for hotel-to-venue hops. Fares are metered in the app with surge multipliers during peak hours and around the close of the fair, so check the estimate before confirming. Terminal 3 at Indira Gandhi International has marked app-cab pickup zones, and app-based auto-rickshaws are useful for the last two kilometres around Nehru Place when traffic stalls. Keep cash as a backup for auto-rickshaws and share the driver's live location with your colleagues when travelling late.

Public transit: The Delhi Metro is the fastest reliable way to reach the Pragati Maidan fairground area: Supreme Court station on the Blue Line is the closest stop, with the Pink Line and the Airport Express connecting at interchange stations nearby - check the exit signposted for the hall you need. Fares are distance-based and low, roughly INR 20-40 for a city journey and about INR 60 for the Airport Express leg, with rechargeable smart cards available at station counters. DTC city buses are the cheapest option at roughly INR 10-25 a journey and cover the airport corridor and central Delhi, though they are slower and crowded at peak hours. Carry small change and avoid the metro crush around 6-7 pm if you are carrying sample cases.

Parking: Bharat Mandapam has on-site parking with controlled entry on the Pragati Maidan fairground, and the surrounding roads are heavily managed during major fairs. Budget approximately INR 100-200 per day for a car slot and expect valet or premium slots to cost more; confirm the gate, rate and whether exhibitor passes get a reserved area with the organiser. Parking fills early on opening day and again from mid-afternoon, so arrive 45-60 minutes before your first meeting if you are driving, and keep the parking slip for exit. Chauffeured cars should be given a fixed pickup point outside the fairground rather than circling the gates.

    Weather

Plan and pack for the event climate.

Month: February 2027 (late February, 20-22 February show days)

Temperature: Roughly 10-25 C across late February: early mornings and evenings near 10-13 C, afternoons mild at about 23-25 C, with the coolest hours just before sunrise.

Seasonality: Late February is at the tail of Delhi's dry winter, before the pre-monsoon heat builds in April and May. Rain is uncommon, but a short winter spell is possible, and morning fog can still delay flights earlier in the season. Air quality can remain poor through February, with the National Capital Region often recording elevated PM2.5 levels.

Packing: Pack removable layers: a light jacket, shawl or sweater for chilly mornings and evenings, breathable shirts and cottons for the exhibition halls, and comfortable closed shoes for long hours on the fairground floor. Bring an N95 mask for high-AQI days, a universal adaptor for Indian type C, D and M sockets, and a refillable bottle for the halls. A compact umbrella covers the rare winter shower, and a light scarf is useful in air-conditioned meeting rooms.

    Plan your trip

    Planning

    FAQs & glossary

    Answers

    Frequently asked

When and where does the Delhi Signature jewellery fair take place?
The edition covered here runs from 20 to 22 February 2027 in New Delhi at the Pragati Maidan fairground district, with Indira Gandhi International (DEL) as the main arrival airport about 14 km away.
How do I reach the New Delhi venue from the airport?
DEL to the New Delhi venue district is a road transfer of about 14.3 km, roughly 20-22 minutes via the Golden Quadrilateral in normal traffic. App cabs and prepaid taxis are the straightforward option with luggage; Delhi Metro and DTC buses are the cheaper public alternative.
Where should jewellery buyers stay during the fair?
The captured hotel set splits into three useful clusters: Nehru Place for 3-4 star business hotels such as The Oakland Plaza and Hotel BlueStone, Mahipalpur next to DEL for early flights, and central New Delhi for 3-star options like Town Pallace Inn and Hotel Golden Oasis. Rates for the 20-22 February 2027 window started from about INR 1,589 per night.
What should I pack for a February jewellery buying trip to Delhi?
February in Delhi is a mild winter: layers for chilly mornings, breathable shirts for the halls, walking shoes for the fairground and a mask for days when air quality dips. Rain is uncommon but a compact umbrella is cheap insurance.

    Glossary

    1
    Polki
Uncut flat diamonds kept in their natural crystalline form and set into gold, usually with a foil backing. Polki is the core of North Indian bridal jewellery and is bought on appearance and weight rather than a single grading report.
    2
    Kundan
A traditional Rajasthani setting technique in which uncut stones are bedded into refined gold with a foil backing and the reverse is often decorated with enamel. Kundan sets are usually sold as full bridal suites.
    3
    Jadau
The umbrella craft of embedding stones into gold, of which Polki and Kundan are the best-known forms. Jadau work is the mainstay of Jaipur and Bikaner workshops and appears heavily in bridal ranges at Delhi fairs.
    4
    Meenakari
Enamelling on the reverse or sides of a jewellery piece, fired in successive colour layers. Meenakari backs are a common value-add on Kundan and Polki sets.
    5
    Karigar
The craftsman or artisan who does the setting, filing, polishing or stringing work in a jewellery workshop. Karigar capacity is a key constraint for exhibitors quoting delivery dates.
    6
    Karat
Gold purity expressed in 24ths. 22 karat is about 91.6 percent gold and is standard for plain gold bridal jewellery in India; 18 karat is about 75 percent gold and is common for diamond-studded pieces.
    7
    BIS hallmarking and HUID
Hallmarking by the Bureau of Indian Standards is mandatory for gold jewellery sold in India. Each piece carries a six-digit HUID (Unique Identification) code, a purity mark and the jeweller's identification, so buyers at the fair should ask to see the hallmark on sample pieces.
    8
    Making charges
The labour component billed on top of metal and stone value, quoted either as a percentage of metal value or per gram. Making charges are a standard negotiation point when comparing quotes from different exhibitors.
    9
    Gross and net weight
Gross weight includes stones and findings; net weight is the precious metal content only. Indian trade quotes usually state both, so confirm which figure a price is based on.
    10
    Tunch
The purity assay of a gold lot, commonly expressed as a percentage. Lots traded between jewellers are settled on tunch rather than on the stamped karat mark alone.
    11
    Lab-grown diamond
A diamond grown in a laboratory by CVD (chemical vapour deposition) or HPHT (high pressure high temperature). It has the same physical properties as a mined diamond but a different origin and a different market price, so the trade expects origin disclosure and lab reports.
    12
    Certification report
A grading report from a gem laboratory covering carat weight, colour, clarity and, for diamonds, cut and origin. International laboratories such as GIA and IGI and Indian laboratories are all seen in the Delhi market, so check which laboratory issued the report for any loose stone you buy.
    13
    Calibrated stones
Stones cut to standard millimetre sizes so they fit standard settings and can be reordered. Calibrated parcels are the normal buying unit for studded-jewellery manufacturers.
    14
    Lost-wax casting
The standard production route for gold and silver jewellery: a wax model is invested in plaster, burnt out and filled with molten metal. Casting capacity and finishing quality are the main machinery talking points with manufacturing exhibitors.
    15
    CAD/CAM
Computer-aided design and machining used to model a piece and cut a wax or resin master. Retail chains and private-label buyers increasingly ask exhibitors for CAD files and repeatable production from them.
