    Weather

Shanghai in November experiences mild autumn weather with average high temperatures between 10-20°C (50-68°F) and daily lows around 5-10°C (41-50°F). The temperature typically hovers around 15°C (59°F). The first half of November is milder, while the second half becomes cooler with notable day-night temperature differences. November averages about 11 rainy days with roughly 52 mm of rainfall, and humidity averages around 72%. Light layers, a jacket, and comfortable walking shoes are recommended, with a scarf for windy days

    Plan for the climate

    Check temperatures and pack accordingly

    Venue connectivity

The National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) is directly connected to Metro Line 2 (NECC Station, Exits 4, 5, and 6) and Metro Line 17 (Zhuguang Road Station). From Exit 15 of Line 17, an underground passage provides direct access to the North Square and North Entrance. The venue is approximately 1.5 km from Hongqiao Transportation Hub, which includes Hongqiao Airport and Hongqiao Railway Station. High-speed rail connects to major Yangtze River Delta cities within 1 to 2 hours. The venue is accessible by taxi and ride-sharing with designated drop-off points at P0, P1, P6, P8, and P15 parking lots

    Cultural notes

Useful information to help you have a smooth and respectful visit.

    Business Card Exchange

Bring plenty of business cards to exchange at the beginning of all meetings. It is customary and polite to receive business cards with both hands and read them immediately. Present your card with both hands and take a moment to read the card you receive rather than pocketing it immediately

    Meeting Etiquette and Hierarchy

The most senior person present is greeted first, and seniority usually determines who speaks. A direct 'no' is rare in Chinese business meetings; listen for 'maybe' and 'we will consider it.' Silence in a meeting is thinking time, not discomfort. Arrive early rather than on time, as lateness is read as a comment on how much you value the other party's time

    Dress Code for Business Functions

For business functions in Shanghai, it is wise to err on the side of formality. For men, a traditional dark suit and tie is the most common mode of dress. For women, opt for conservative attire and choose lower heels or flats

    Bargaining Culture

Bargaining is a social art in China and is expected at markets. Be firm but friendly. Once you and a vendor agree on a price, it is considered bad etiquette to try to lower the price further

    Dining and Toasting Etiquette

When toasting at a business dinner, lifting your glass can commit everyone at the table to emptying theirs. Never flip a fish over at the table as it is considered bad luck. The host typically orders and pays for the meal

Everything needed to arrive prepared, navigate the event, and make the visit productive.

    Flights

Destination: Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG)

Shanghai is served by two international airports: Pudong International (PVG) and Hongqiao International (SHA). PVG handles most international long-haul flights, while SHA is closer to the venue and serves many domestic and regional routes. Book flights to PVG for international connections or SHA for direct access to the venue area. Consider booking round-trip tickets in advance for November travel

    Visa

Most foreign nationals require a visa to enter China for business purposes. However, ordinary passport holders from 50 countries, including most of Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, Canada, and the UK, are exempt from visa requirements for business visits of up to 30 days until at least December 31, 2026. Nationals not covered by the visa-free policy must obtain an M (business) visa before travel

Processing: 4 working days standard (M visa); express 2-3 working days where offered

ITMA ASIA + CITME 2026 offers a visa invitation letter service for participants who require a formal invitation for their visa application. The application fee is 30 USD per person. Applications are accepted from May 25 to September 25, 2026. Before applying, visitors must complete pre-registration and pay the ticket fee. Complete application materials should be sent to frank@jnh-bs.com. For late submissions after September 25, email gaoyang@ccpittex.com to confirm whether late submissions are acceptable. M visa fees vary by nationality; US citizens pay US$140. The visa-free policy for eligible nationalities requires a valid ordinary passport and allows a stay of no more than 30 days

    Planning

Best day to visit: November 20-21 (opening days)

The opening days of the exhibition typically feature the most comprehensive product displays, the highest concentration of exhibitor representatives, and the most opportunities for meaningful business discussions. Major product launches and demonstrations often occur on the first two days. For visitors seeking quieter networking opportunities, the later days (November 22-23) may offer more relaxed interactions with exhibitors. The final day (24 November) has shorter hours (0900 to 1630) and many exhibitors begin packing up in the afternoon, so it is less ideal for in-depth meetings

    T

Confirm travel dates and book flights to Shanghai Pudong (PVG) or Hongqiao (SHA) — Guidance. November is a busy exhibition period; book flights 2 to 3 months in advance for best fares. Hongqiao Airport is 6 km from the venue and closer, but Pudong handles most international long-haul flights

    T

Apply for visa if required and request visa invitation letter from the organiser — Guidance. Visa invitation letter applications are accepted from 25 May to 25 September 2026. Fee: USD 30 per person. Must complete pre-registration and pay ticket fee before applying. Email frank@jnh-bs.com. The exhibition occupies seven halls (H3, H4.1, H5.1, H6.1, H7.1, H8.1, H8.2) across about 180,000 sqm. Prioritise halls by product category. Bring a portable charger and comfortable walking shoes

    T

Confirm hotel shuttle schedule and metro route to NECC — Guidance. Metro Line 2 connects Hongqiao Airport Terminal 2 directly to NECC Station (Exits 4, 5, 6, 8). Metro Line 17 connects Hongqiao Railway Station to Zhuguang Road Station. Many hotels near NECC offer complimentary shuttle buses during the exhibition period

Prepare business cards, meeting schedule, and essential documents — Guidance. Bring plenty of business cards for networking. Prepare a list of target exhibitors and schedule meetings in advance. Carry your passport, pre-registration confirmation, and hotel booking confirmation. Download DiDi (ride-hailing) and Alipay or WeChat Pay for mobile payments

    T

Collect visitor badge at the venue entrance and pick up a show catalogue — Guidance. Bring your pre-registration confirmation and valid ID (passport for international visitors). Decision

    Visit, exhibit, or skip?

    Should you go?

ITMA ASIA + CITME 2026 is Asia's leading textile machinery exhibition, held 20-24 November 2026 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). More than 1,800 exhibiting companies have applied, with almost 90% from China, and the show occupies seven halls across about 180,000 square metres. Answer the questions below to determine whether visiting, exhibiting, or skipping is the right decision for your business

    QUESTION 1 OF 8

What is your primary role in the textile and garment industry?

    Decision matrix

Compare participation options side by side to choose the best fit for your objectives.

    visit

Your business needs to source textile machinery, evaluate emerging technologies, or connect with suppliers and buyers across the Asian textile market. ITMA ASIA + CITME 2026 covers the complete value chain and is the region's leading business platform for textile machinery

    Best for

Textile and garment manufacturers, processors, and sourcing managers seeking to evaluate and purchase textile machinery; industry professionals exploring emerging technologies in composites, recycling, digitalisation, and automation; trade associations and media covering the textile sector

    Min. budget

    $1,500.00

    Timeline

Register before 19 November 2026 for early-bird pricing; book flights and accommodation 4-8 weeks in advance for best rates

    Risks

Large venue (seven halls, 180,000 sqm) requires careful planning to cover relevant product categories efficiently

International travel to Shanghai involves visa processing for some nationalities and long-haul flight costs

Visitor entry is trade-only and subject to registration approval

    exhibit

Your company manufactures textile machinery or related products and targets the Chinese or Asian market. The 2026 edition has expanded by 10% over the last edition, and both exhibitor numbers and exhibition space surpassed all previous editions. The show attracts more than 100 overseas trade associations and buyer groups

    Best for

Textile machinery manufacturers and suppliers with products across any segment of the textile value chain (spinning, weaving, knitting, printing, dyeing and finishing, nonwovens, embroidery, garment making, braiding, recycling, testing, packaging); providers of software, automation, and digital solutions for textile production; suppliers of components and textile chemicals

    Min. budget

    $8,000.00

    Timeline

Stand space applications closed on 24 March 2026; contact the organiser for late availability. Service orders (including A11 services) are due by 20 August 2026. Setup runs 14-19 November 2026

    Risks

Significant investment in booth space, travel, accommodation, and logistics for a five-day show

Competition from more than 1,800 exhibiting companies, almost 90% from China, requires strong differentiation

Exhibition space exceeded previous editions, indicating high demand and potential waitlist for prime locations

    skip

Your business has no immediate or near-term need for textile machinery sourcing, no plans to enter the Asian market, or cannot justify the travel and cost of attending an international trade show at this time. The next edition is expected in 2028

    Best for

Professionals with no defined sourcing or sales timeline, no specific product category interest in textile machinery, or significant travel barriers to Shanghai. The event is trade-only and focused exclusively on the textile and garment manufacturing value chain

    Timeline

    Not applicable

    Risks

Missing potential business opportunities if market conditions change and sourcing or sales needs emerge before the next edition

No alternative comparable event in Asia covering the complete textile machinery value chain with the same scale
