    Edition recap

The smarter E Europe 2025, held May 7–9 in Munich, brought together 2,737 exhibitors from 57 countries and approximately 107,000 trade visitors from 157 nations across 200,000 sqm of exhibition space. The four co-located fairs – Intersolar Europe, ees Europe, Power2Drive Europe, and EM-Power Europe – demonstrated that the energy industry is ready for the next phase: making the energy system more flexible, digital, and integrated. The accompanying conferences and side events attracted over 2,600 attendees. Organisers Markus Elsässer (Solar Promotion GmbH) noted that the exhibitions covered the key topics of the energy transition in breadth and depth, providing a blueprint for the climate-neutral energy world of the future. The smarter E AWARD winners included Samsung SDI (Energy Storage and E-Mobility categories) and Spanish SME Toscano for its COMBI-PRO-MAX backup control unit. The 2026 edition will return June 23–25 with a new Tuesday–Thursday schedule

    Testimonials

Our four exhibitions complement each other, covering the key topics of the energy transition in both breadth and depth. Once again, The smarter E Europe provided the blueprint for the climate-neutral energy world of the future. The path has been laid out, the technologies and solutions needed to get there already exist. It is now about following that path unerringly

Markus Elsässer · CEO and Founder · Solar Promotion GmbH · 2025

The holistic approach of the exhibition – integrating storage, generation, digitalization, and grid solutions – aligns perfectly with our vision of a safe and sustainable future. Making renewables available 24/7 is no longer a distant goal; it is becoming a tangible reality, especially in Europe

Hyunyoung Kwak · Vice President · Samsung SDI · 2025

Our success reflects our strong belief in an integrated approach to renewable energy, one that goes beyond isolated solutions. For us, it is about building smart, integrated systems that make sustainable energy available 24/7, combining solar, storage, intelligent grid management, and real-time data monitoring

Carlos Toscano · CEO and Managing Director · Toscano · 2025

It's great to be back! Our company always gets a lot out of participating at the exhibition, but this year was something else. The huge number of visitors to our booth showed how popular the event is. The enthusiasm we saw among our customers was striking

Oliver Beckel · Head of Marketing and Communications · Hanwha Qcells · 2022

    Next edition outlook

    2026
    estimated

Intersolar Europe 2026 will take place from June 23–25 at Messe München, with a new Tuesday–Thursday schedule. The event is expected to continue the focus on photovoltaics, solar thermal technologies, and large-scale solar power plants, with an estimated 1,300 exhibitors across 101,000 sqm. Industry analysts anticipate that 2026 will see further consolidation of N-type technology (TOPCon, BC) and the beginning of perovskite tandem cell production. Regulatory developments – including the EEG reform in Germany and the full implementation of the EU's Energy Performance of Buildings Directive – will shape market dynamics. The is likely to place increased emphasis on 'standard setting' and 'ecosystem building' as the industry moves beyond pure transaction

New Tuesday–Thursday schedule (June 23–25) Continued focus on hybrid PV systems, C&I applications, grid-forming inverters, and system integration Deepening of hybrid PPAs and CfD frameworks as feed-in tariffs are fully phased out Expanded focus on circular economy, PV recycling, and ESG compliance amid regulatory pressure Greater emphasis on digitalisation, AI-driven energy management, and grid-edge intelligence

    Impact

    A bigger and stronger platform

The smarter E Europe 2025 brought together 2,737 exhibitors from 57 countries and around 107,000 trade visitors from 157 nations across 200,000 sqm of exhibition space. The event demonstrated that the energy industry is ready for the next phase: making the energy system more flexible, digital, and integrated. Despite a slight decline from the record 2024 edition, the atmosphere was positive, with a focus on high-quality, qualified visitor interactions and a clear signal that renewable energy is now a dominant force in many markets. Organisers Markus Elsässer (Solar Promotion GmbH) noted that the exhibitions covered the key topics of the energy transition in breadth and depth, providing a blueprint for the climate-neutral energy world of the future

    Audience quality

    High-value decision-makers

The 2025 edition attracted approximately 107,000 trade visitors from 157 countries. Exhibitors and observers consistently noted a very high-quality, qualified visitor profile. Some exhibitors expressed relief that the lower visitor volume compared to 2024 allowed for more focused, in-depth conversations with clients and less crowded conditions. The event remained a key platform for forging contacts, setting up partnerships, and initiating projects

    Exhibitor outcomes

    Real business growth

Exhibitor feedback was broadly positive, with many reporting successful participation. Krannich Solar's CSO Jan Brunner stated: 'Our stand was extremely well visited. At times, it was hardly possible to get through. We had many detailed discussions with customers and suppliers.'- 29 RENA's solar team noted that 'the many insightful conversations and consistently positive feedback reinforced our belief that efficiency, quality, and sustainability are key drivers for the future of the solar industry.'- While specific ROI metrics are not publicly available, the high quality of visitor interactions and the volume of leads generated (some exhibitors reporting 30-50 qualified inquiries on-site- ) suggest a strong return for participating companies

    Cultural notes

Useful information to help you have a smooth and respectful visit.

    Punctuality and preparation

German business culture places a high value on punctuality. Arriving on time for meetings and appointments is seen as a sign of respect and professionalism. It is recommended to arrive 8 minutes early. Send an agenda before the meeting, confirm the location, and prepare clear, data-backed presentation materials. Munich focuses on relationship building, but direct communication needs to be based on solid data and a feasible execution plan

    Dress and Etiquette

Intersolar Europe's business attire generally ranges from smart casual to formal. Suits and ties are common among senior management, and most attendees opt for smart casual (blazer, collared shirt). Avoid overly casual attire. German business culture is more formal during initial interactions, and it is recommended to use the honorific "Sie" unless invited by the other party to use "du". The handshake should be firm and firm, maintain eye contact, and use the last name plus title

    communication style

Germans prefer direct and forthright communication and concise and clear information. Don’t take rebuttals personally and don’t water down your data – Germans respect concreteness –. In professional settings, humor and small talk often give way to substantive technical and business discussions

    Business card exchange and follow-up

The exchange of business cards is a formal part and the cards are looked at carefully. It is recommended to prepare bilingual business cards (English/German). Send a concise follow-up email within 24 to 48 hours after the meeting summarizing key points of the discussion and next steps

    Beer garden and social

Munich's beer gardens are an important part of business culture, especially in June. It is common to be invited to a beer garden, such as one in the English Garden, for informal socializing. Please note that this is still a business-related occasion, so maintain professionalism in a relaxed atmosphere
