Italy is part of the Schengen area. EU/EEA and Swiss citizens enter with a valid national ID card or passport and face no visa requirement. Nationals of the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Brazil and many other countries may travel visa-free for business or tourism for up to 90 days within any 180-day period; from the full roll-out of the EU's ETIAS system these travellers will instead need an online ETIAS authorisation (about EUR 7, valid three years) before departure. Nationals of countries without a visa-waiver agreement — including India, China, Turkey, South Africa, Nigeria and most of the Middle East and Central Asia — must obtain a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa from the Italian consulate or visa centre covering their place of residence: EUR 90 for adults, EUR 45 for children aged 6–12, free for children under 6. Apply no earlier than six months and no later than four weeks before travel; standard processing is 15 calendar days and can extend to 45 days in peak spring season. Bring an invitation letter from Koelnmesse s.r.l. or your exhibiting company, proof of accommodation near Fiera di Bergamo, travel medical insurance with at least EUR 30,000 cover, and evidence of funds and onward travel. Entry is granted at the Schengen external border, so carry the visa sticker, passport (valid at least three months beyond departure) and supporting documents in hand luggage.
