    Industry trends

Key trends shaping this market and its wider industry.

    01

AI-Driven Surveillance Moves from Data Capture to Actionable Intelligence

India's video surveillance industry is shifting from overwhelming data collection to genuine, actionable intelligence. AI agents collate semantically connected information across multiple video systems, enabling contextual intelligence that distinguishes genuine threats from normal behaviour and reduces false alarms. Natural-language search capabilities are redefining human-machine interaction, allowing operators to locate critical events through conversational queries rather than manual footage review. India's AI in video surveillance market is projected to grow from USD 158.5 million in 2026 to USD 625.2 million by 2031, a 25.7% CAGR that significantly outpaces the global average of 17.9%

    02

Cybersecurity Spending Surges on AI-Enabled Threats and Regulatory Pressure

Gartner forecasts end-user information security spending in India to total $3.4 billion in 2026, an 11.7% increase from 2025. Security software remains the largest and fastest-growing segment at 12.4% growth, driven by AI-enabled identity compromise, deepfake-enabled fraud, and compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act. Indian CISOs are operating in a rapidly changing threat environment demanding a renewed focus on adaptable and risk-aware cybersecurity programmes

    03

Government Smart-City Mission and Mandatory STQC Certification Drive Procurement

India's Smart Cities Mission now spans more than 300 urban centres, earmarking surveillance, traffic management, and emergency response as core deliverables. Indian Railways set aside INR 2.52 lakh crore (USD 30.2 billion) in its 2024-25 capital plan for GPS-enabled coaches and 40,000 camera upgrades. Mandatory STQC certification for CCTV under Essential Requirements (effective April 2025) covers device security, encryption, firmware safety, and supply chain provenance — pushing buyers toward cyber-secure, upgradeable devices

Counter-Drone Systems Expand Beyond Military to Urban and Border Security

India is expanding counter-drone security beyond fixed military installations by deploying mobile systems for border protection, VVIP security, and urban policing. Government agencies have placed orders worth approximately Rs 155 crore for the Indrajaal Ranger, including a Rs 145 crore order for border-security deployment and a Rs 10 crore order for urban police. The system detects, tracks, identifies, and counters unauthorised drones while on the move

    05

VSaaS and Hybrid Architectures Reshape Security Business Models

Video Surveillance as a Service (VSaaS) adoption is accelerating the shift from capital-intensive hardware deployments to flexible, subscription-based operating models. Hybrid architectures blending edge AI, cloud, and on-premise computing are becoming dominant, with edge-first intelligence reducing latency, lowering bandwidth costs, and strengthening data privacy. This change enables organisations to scale security infrastructure in alignment with business needs rather than upfront capital constraints

    Cultural notes

Useful information to help you have a smooth and respectful visit.

    Relationship-Based Business Culture

Indian trade shows blend business with relationship-building in distinctly Indian ways. Comfortable conversation areas are essential because Indians conduct business through extended discussions. Rushing through introductions or transactions is counterproductive; investing time in building rapport, sharing tea or meals, and showing genuine interest in your counterpart's organisation lays the foundation for successful partnerships

The 'Yes Culture' and Indirect Communication

In Indian business culture, direct refusal is often considered impolite. When Indian counterparts say 'Yes,' it may indicate acknowledgement rather than commitment. Use open-ended questions and follow-up clarifications to confirm understanding and timelines. Written confirmation after verbal discussions is recommended. Patience and relationship continuity are valued over aggressive follow-through

    Business Etiquette and Dress Code

Formal attire is preferred at trade shows, and punctuality is expected from foreign business representatives. A firm handshake is common in business settings, though greeting with 'Namaste' with palms together is also appropriate. Wait for a woman to offer her hand before shaking. Business cards are exchanged with the right hand or both hands; using the left hand alone is considered impolite. Avoid discussing religious or political topics unless your counterpart initiates them

    Negotiation and Pricing Expectations

Price negotiation is a normal and expected part of business in India. Leave room for bargaining and allow your counterpart to feel they have achieved a favourable outcome. The first offer is rarely the final price. Building value into the relationship and demonstrating flexibility can strengthen long-term partnerships more than holding firm on initial terms

    Time and Flexibility

Indian business culture often operates on a more flexible interpretation of time compared to Western norms. Meetings may start late or run long. Foreign visitors should build buffer time into their schedules and avoid showing frustration over delays, as this can damage relationships. Patience and a relaxed approach to scheduling are appreciated

    Vegetarian and Dietary Considerations

A significant portion of the Indian population is vegetarian. When hosting or being hosted for meals, it is respectful to inquire about dietary preferences. Beef is not consumed by many Hindus, and pork is avoided by Muslims. Offering vegetarian options is always a safe choice

    Visitor & Exhibitor Essentials

Everything needed to arrive prepared, navigate the event, and make the visit productive.

    Flights

Destination: Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL), New Delhi

Book flights 2–3 months in advance for best fares. December is peak travel season in India, so early booking is recommended. Multiple airlines operate direct flights to Delhi from major global hubs including Air India, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, and Lufthansa

    Visa

Most foreign nationals require a valid visa to enter India for IFSEC India 2026. The e-Business Visa is the recommended category for trade fair attendance, offering 1-year validity with multiple entries and up to 180 days stay per visit. Alternatively, the e-Conference Visa (30 days, single entry) is available if the organiser obtains MHA event clearance. Citizens of Nepal and Bhutan do not require a visa. Maldivian citizens may enter visa-free for stays under 90 days in the preceding six months for tourism, medical, or business purposes. Apply online through the official Government of India e-Visa portal well in advance of travel. Visa applications cannot be submitted more than 120 days before arrival. Carry a printed copy of the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) when travelling

    Estimated cost: Not yet confirmed

Processing: 3–5 working days for e-Visa; 5–10 working days for regular sticker visa

The e-Business Visa is the most suitable category for exhibitors and trade visitors attending IFSEC India 2026. An invitation letter from Informa Markets or the Indian partner company is typically required. For e-Conference Visa, the event organiser must upload details to the MHA conference portal (https://conference.mha.gov.in) and obtain political clearance from MEA and event clearance from MHA. Business visa holders must register with FRRO/FRO if aggregate stay exceeds 6 months during a calendar year. Visa fees vary by nationality; check the official portal for your specific fee. US citizens pay USD 140 for e-Business Visa; UAE nationals pay USD 415. Many developing countries pay USD 0
