Industry trends
Key trends shaping this market and its wider industry.
01
The industry shifts from rapid expansion to quality growth
From 2026 to 2028, the growth rate of the domestic dental industry is expected to slow down, store expansion will slow down simultaneously, and the industry's growth logic will shift from high-speed expansion to quality growth driven by "professional trust". The profit structure has shifted from relying on single hot products such as implants and orthodontics to comprehensive dental care. Basic treatments and comprehensive projects have become more stable sources of income.
Deep penetration of digital and intelligent technologies
The proportion of exhibitors providing digital solutions such as CAD/CAM systems, 3D printing, and implant navigation has increased by nearly 40% compared with five years ago. The global digital dental market is expected to reach US$14.13 billion in 2032, with a CAGR of 9.7%; the dental 3D printing market is expected to grow to US$4.31 billion in 2026.
Domestic substitution is accelerating, overseas globalization is accelerating
The localization rate of domestic dental medical devices has exceeded 40%. In 2025, China's dental exports will be US$1.54 billion, a year-on-year increase of 9.7%, while imports will decrease by 7.7%. The overseas revenue of Modern Dental, Shining 3D, and Aidit accounted for 83.5%, 73.6%, and 66.3% respectively. The overseas revenue of Times Angel increased from 10% in 2023 to 44% in 2025.
Implantation and orthodontics are the most promising market segments
The global oral medical market size will reach US$365.6 billion in 2020 and is expected to reach US$709.7 billion in 2030. The size of China's dental services market is expected to reach 375.35 billion yuan in 2026. The compound growth rate of orthodontic materials from 2022 to 2024 will reach 25.7%. After the centralized procurement of dental implants, the price dropped by 55%, and the demand accelerated.
Consumption decision-making shifts from “recommendation by acquaintances” to “active search”
Users' medical decision-making has shifted from "recommendation by acquaintances" to "active search and multi-party verification". In 2023, more than half of consumers will rely on recommendations from acquaintances, and this number is expected to drop to 32% in 2026; during the same period, the proportion of online searches will increase from 22% to 38%.
The dental industry bids farewell to the period of rapid expansion. What is the future growth momentum?
The Financial Associated Press reported that the dental industry is bidding farewell to the golden period of rapid expansion and entering cyclical changes. The growth logic has shifted from "single item" to "comprehensive oral care", and user decision-making has shifted from "recommendation by acquaintances" to "active search."
Kaiyuan Securities: The size of the global dental market has nearly doubled in ten years, with implants taking the lead and orthodontics as the most potential market
Research reports indicate that the global dental medical market continues to grow, reaching US$365.6 billion in 2020, and is expected to reach US$709.7 billion in 2030. Relying on the advantages of the rare earth and zirconia industry chain, Chinese companies are accelerating overseas expansion and the trend of import substitution continues

China and global dental industry exhibition matrix in 2026
March 2026 December 2026
The China Dental Exhibition in 2026 will present a pattern of "multiple blooms and dislocated competition". In the first half of the year, the South China Dental Exhibition (March·Guangzhou), Beijing Sino-Dental (June·Beijing), and the Western Dental Exhibition (April·Chengdu) were the main axes; in the second half of the year, Shanghai CDS (October·Shanghai) and DenTech China (October·Shanghai) were the dual cores, forming an industry ecosystem that echoes the north and south and links the east and west. Internationally, the FDI World Dental Congress in Prague in September is the world's highest-level academic event. As one of the largest and oldest dental professional exhibitions in the Asia-Pacific region, DenTech China occupies a unique position among similar exhibitions with its 30 years of accumulation and internationalization (official national pavilions from Germany, the United States, and South Korea participate).
