Key market insights, trends, news and related events to help you understand the bigger picture.

DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), with primary focus on Germany and the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main data centre cluster

    Why it matters

Tech Show Frankfurt matters because it sits at the intersection of Europe's most pressing technology challenges: AI productionisation, digital sovereignty, energy-constrained infrastructure, and cybersecurity resilience. With Frankfurt being continental Europe's largest data centre market at 1,020 MW IT load and accounting for more than 60% of Germany's total rack capacity, the event provides a critical meeting point for enterprise technology buyers, infrastructure providers, and policymakers navigating the DACH region's €42.5 billion cloud software market. The co-location of four shows under one roof creates a unique opportunity to compare architectures, partners, and platforms across the entire technology stack, while pre-scheduled meetings through Connect enable exhibitors to reach 8,000+ qualified attendees with measurable efficiency. For organisations building their 2026 to 2027 technology roadmaps, the event offers practical intelligence on hybrid cloud strategies, sovereign infrastructure requirements, and AI-ready architectures that are being deployed in production today. The event's growth from 5,800 visitors in 2025 to 8,000+ in 2026, a 36% increase, demonstrates its rising importance in a market where grid access constraints and energy costs are reshaping where and how digital infrastructure is built

    Industry trends

Key trends shaping this market and its wider industry.

    01

AI Moves from Pilot to Production

Enterprise AI is shifting from experimentation to production-scale deployment, driving demand for scalable, sovereign, and cost-controlled cloud infrastructure. Organisations are prioritising AI-ready architecture, GPU compute, and data preparation pipelines to operationalise AI across business functions. Cloud strategy is under sovereignty pressure, while security, compliance, cost, carbon, and control now sit in the same conversation

    Source
    02

    Data Sovereignty and Digital Autonomy

European enterprises and governments are increasingly prioritising digital sovereignty, seeking cloud and data centre solutions that ensure compliance, control, and protection of data within European jurisdictions. Global sovereign cloud infrastructure spending is projected to reach $80 billion in 2026, with Europe's spending growing by 83 percent. The AWS European Sovereign Cloud went into operation in Brandenburg in January 2026 with a €7.8 billion investment, while the European Commission awarded its €180 million sovereign cloud tender to four European provider groups

    Source
    03

Energy Constraints and Grid Access as the Binding Constraint

European IT power capacity rose from 10,539 MW in 2023 to 14,784 MW in 2025. Power availability is identified as the top challenge by 67% of data centre operators, ahead of permitting, technical staff, and energy prices. Modern hyperscale facilities require 50 to several hundred megawatts of reliable power, and grid congestion affects most major European markets. In Frankfurt, data centres consumed between 33% and 42% of electricity demand in 2023. Frankfurt's IT load already reaches 1,020 MW with a forecasted growth rate (CAGR 2026/2027) of 18.6%

    Source
    04

German Cloud and AI Market Growth

Germany's cloud software market is projected to generate approximately €42.5 billion in 2026, a 21.9 percent increase. The broader German IT and telecommunications market is expected to grow 4.1 percent to €246.4 billion. The Germany cloud computing market is expected to grow from $56.52 billion in 2025 to $65.05 billion in 2026, forecast to reach $131.29 billion by 2031 at a 15.08% CAGR. AI platforms are expected to surge by 75.8 percent

    Source
    05

    European Data Centre Investment Surge

The European Data Centre Association expects €176 billion in cumulative investment from 2026 to 2031, with scale colocation campuses and AI-optimised facilities dominating new builds. A CAGR exceeding 25% through 2031 is expected for scale colocation. The world's four largest hyperscale cloud providers are expected to invest $725 billion in capital expenditure during 2026, a 77% increase on 2025. AI-focused colocation data centre capacity signings in Europe more than quadrupled in the first half of 2026, reaching 420MW compared with 89MW in the same period in 2025

    Source
    06

Convergence of Security, Compliance, and Cost Management

Security, compliance, and cost management are no longer separate conversations. Organisations are seeking integrated solutions that address cyber resilience, regulatory compliance, and FinOps in a unified cloud strategy, reflecting the maturing of enterprise cloud adoption. For solution providers, demand is clear: sovereign, scalable infrastructure, cost control through FinOps, and AI-ready architecture

    Cultural notes

Useful information to help you have a smooth and respectful visit.

    Punctuality and Formality

Frankfurt's business culture values punctuality, competence, and consistency. Trust is built through flawless technical preparation and following through on commitments. Business contacts are typically addressed by their surname and the formal 'Sie' in German, though English is widely used in international tech teams. A firm handshake is the standard greeting

    Dress Code

Business attire in Frankfurt ranges from business casual in many offices to formal suits for more traditional banking and corporate settings. Messe Frankfurt's Head of Protocol notes that etiquette in the company is liberal with no strict dress code, but recommends dressing appropriately for the occasion and audience. For a technology trade show, business casual to smart business attire is appropriate

    Networking Etiquette

Frankfurt's tech ecosystem combines the city's traditional banking conservatism with a young, dynamic startup scene. Business card exchange and firm handshakes are standard. The event's networking features — including pre-scheduled meetings via the Connect platform — reflect the importance of structured and informal relationship-building in German business culture. It is considered polite to arrive on time for meetings and to confirm appointments in advance

    Timeline

1 to 2 days for the event; book accommodation 6-8 weeks in advance during major trade fair periods

    Risks

    Overlapping sessions may require prioritisation

Large venue (Hall 8) requires comfortable footwear and a planned route

Popular keynote sessions fill up quickly; arrive early to secure seating

Badge registration must use a company email address; private emails are rejected

    exhibit

You have a market-ready solution, a budget of €5,000 or more, target enterprise buyers in the DACH region, and can commit to pre-show outreach and structured on-site meeting scheduling

    Best for

Technology vendors, solution providers, and service companies with market-ready products in cloud infrastructure, AI platforms, cybersecurity, big data, or data centre technologies seeking qualified leads from enterprise buyers across the DACH region
