Global — United Kingdom / Europe

    Why it matters

Bett UK 2027 matters because it convenes the global education technology community at a pivotal moment when AI in education is moving from experimentation to evidence-based implementation, and when government policy is actively shaping the EdTech landscape. With 37,000+ attendees, 14,000 education decision-makers — 71% of whom are ready to purchase products — and 700+ exhibitors from 130+ countries, Bett UK is the single largest concentration of education buyers in Europe. The event connects solution providers with the people who make purchasing decisions for schools, colleges, and universities. The new Policy in Practice Theatre reflects the sector's growing focus on translating policy into classroom practice, while the expanded Tech User Labs and continued SEND Village demonstrate Bett's commitment to hands-on, inclusive innovation. For educators, Bett offers hundreds of hours of free CPD-accredited content across nine stages. For exhibitors, it provides unparalleled access to a market where the UK government has committed £23 million to EdTech Testbeds and £325 million to school connectivity

    Industry trends

Key trends shaping this market and its wider industry.

    01

AI moves from novelty to measurable outcomes in education

The EdTech sector is shifting from AI hype toward demonstrable impact. Bett UK 2027 places AI at the centre of its content programme, with a keynote from Professor Michael Wooldridge (University of Oxford) on The Future of Education and AI. The conversation has changed from what technology can do to what its impact is, with education leaders demanding evidence of improved learning outcomes, reduced teacher workload, and measurable ROI. AI literacy is increasingly seen as essential for all students, not just those in computer science, and the UK government has invested £23 million to expand the EdTech Testbeds pilot into a four-year programme reaching 1,000+ schools

    Source
    02

SEND and inclusion move to the centre of EdTech strategy

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) has taken on unprecedented visibility at Bett, with a dedicated SEND Village and Theatre continuing into 2027. The SEND Village brings together leading and emerging SEND solution providers for increased exposure. UK government now requires all newly qualified teachers to learn how to effectively use assistive technology, and pilot data shows over 80% of surveyed staff reported improvements in student independence, confidence and engagement. Bett UK 2027 continues its SEND programming with expert-led sessions on language development, assistive technology, and inclusive pedagogy

    Source
    03

EdTech market matures with focus on ROI and sustainable adoption

The global digital education equipment market is projected to exceed USD 450 billion by 2027, with a compound annual growth rate of over 17%. However, with up to 90% of school IT budgets absorbed by core infrastructure, discretionary spend is limited, and Bett UK 2026 was defined by growing scrutiny of ROI, utilisation and impact. The UK EdTech market is projected to grow from USD 10.59 billion in 2025 to USD 12.26 billion in 2026. England's EdTech market comprises 1,123 companies generating around £6.5 billion in turnover. For exhibitors, demonstrating measurable ROI and evidence of impact is now essential

Policy engagement and government investment accelerate EdTech adoption

The UK government has significantly increased its engagement with EdTech, announcing a £23 million expansion of the EdTech Testbeds programme, selecting six companies to develop free AI tutoring tools for disadvantaged pupils, and committing an additional £325 million to school connectivity through 2029/30. Bett UK 2027 introduces a new Policy in Practice Theatre, bringing together policymakers, researchers, education leaders and innovators to explore how policy decisions translate into real-world impact. This policy focus reflects the growing recognition that system-level change requires coordinated action across government, industry, and education

Esports and gamified learning gain traction in formal education

Esports continues to expand at Bett UK, with a dedicated Esports Theatre returning for 2027. The programme explores classroom applications, inclusion, neurodiversity and skills development, developed in partnership with the British Esports Federation. The global esports market is projected to reach $1.87 billion by 2025, and educational institutions are increasingly recognising esports as a vehicle for developing STEM skills, teamwork, and digital literacy. Bett UK 2027 features hands-on demos, expert content, and activations designed to unlock the learning potential of esports

    Cultural notes

Useful information to help you have a smooth and respectful visit.

    London business etiquette

London business culture places a strong emphasis on politeness and professionalism. Phrases like 'Kind regards' and 'Would you be so kind.' are used frequently, even in casual conversations. Punctuality is important — 7 PM means 7 PM, and lateness is considered bad manners. A sturdy handshake suffices for greetings. Business attire is typically formal and polished; avoid loud ties or uncomfortable suits. Business cards are typically exchanged at the end of a meeting

    Public etiquette on London transport

Public etiquette in London is structured and followed diligently. On the tube and escalators, always stand on the right side and walk on the left. Keep quiet on the tube — loud conversations are frowned upon. Queueing is sacred; do not cut in line. Frequent use of 'sorry', 'thank you', 'pardon', and 'please' are standard

ExCeL London and the Royal Docks

ExCeL London is located in the Royal Docks, a regenerated area of East London with a distinct character. The venue is part of a larger waterfront development that includes hotels, restaurants, and the Emirates Air Line cable car. The area is well-connected to central London via the Elizabeth line and DLR, with Canary Wharf and Greenwich nearby. The venue's scale — 3,700 parking spaces and two main entrances — means attendees should allow extra time for navigating the campus
