The 2025 edition of ASME's International Mechanical Engineering Congress & Exposition (IMECE) was held November 16, 2025, at the Renasant Convention Center in Memphis, Tennessee, under the theme 'Engineering a Resilient Future: Innovation, Collaboration, and Global Impact.' ATA Carnets are administered in Canada by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce (CCC). Canadian businesses can apply online, with standard processing completed within five business days. Carnets are accepted in more than 80 countries worldwide and are typically valid for up to one year from the date of issue. Goods must be re-exported within 12 months; extensions are possible. The carnet does not cover goods that will be consumed (e.g., promotional giveaways, food and beverage samples), goods that will be sold (e.g., merchandise at a trade show), or goods that will be altered, repaired, or disposed of in Canada. For goods not covered by an ATA Carnet, CBSA Form E29B (Temporary Admission Permit) is an alternative, which may require a security deposit equal to the duties and taxes that would otherwise apply. Visa
Entry requirements for Canada depend on nationality and mode of travel. Most visitors need either a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). US citizens are exempt from both. Business visitors attending conferences and trade shows may qualify for a work permit exemption but must still meet visa or eTA requirements based on nationality. IMECE 2026 provides invitation letters to attendees: on acceptance of a submission, the letter is included in the abstract acceptance email; attendees can also request one during the registration process. The letter contains a Special Event Code for the visa application. The Special Event Code is different from the GC Key invite code and is used once the actual visa application has started. Attendees from visa-required countries should apply for their TRV as early as possible. All visa applicants must provide biometrics (fingerprints and photo) at a Visa Application Centre. Business visitors should carry proof of their business purpose, proof of funds, and proof of ties to their home country when arriving at the Canadian border
