Bangkok (Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi), Thailand — Southeast Asia / ASEAN

    Why it matters

This is Thailand's flagship defense and security exhibition and one of ASEAN's largest platforms for land, naval, air, unmanned, cyber and homeland-security procurement, staged biennially at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani near Bangkok. It concentrates armed-forces delegations, interior and security ministries, national pavilions and prime integrators from across Southeast Asia in one venue, which makes it an efficient single trip for reading regional demand, benchmarking competitors and opening channel-partner conversations. For suppliers without a permanent ASEAN presence, it is also the practical entry point for the Thai market, where localisation, offset and co-production expectations shape most major programmes.

Global defense & security exhibition circuit

12–18 months ahead for stand space, pavilion slots and delegation meeting requests

Defense procurement runs on a small number of biennial national and regional shows. Planning a two-year circuit lets exhibitors sequence launches, reuse stand assets and budget government-delegation meetings across the Middle East, Europe, Asia and ASEAN.

    Visa & entry documents

Check the latest visa requirements and entry guidelines before travelling.

    Visa not required
    On-arrival available
    ATA Carnet: check with organiser

Visa-exempt nationalities (US, UK, EU, Australia, Japan, South Korea, ASEAN and many others) enter free of charge and do not need to apply in advance. Exhibitors moving controlled defense/security equipment must still arrange import licences and customs clearance — visa status does not cover goods.

Not confirmed for defense/security exhibits. ATA Carnets do not normally cover military or controlled dual-use goods, and Thailand requires specific import authorisation for defense-related equipment. Confirm documentation, brokerage and clearance requirements directly with the organiser's official freight forwarder — do not ship exhibits on a carnet assumption.

    Weather

November 2027 (event month) in Bangkok sits at the end of the rainy season and the start of the cooler, drier period: expect roughly 23–32 °C with high humidity, around 50 mm of rain spread over 4–6 mostly short afternoon or evening showers, and occasional breezier days late in the month. Pack lightweight business attire, a compact umbrella and a light layer for heavily air-conditioned halls and conference rooms.

Useful information to help you have a smooth and respectful visit.

    Business etiquette & greetings

The wai (palms together, slight bow) is the standard greeting — a handshake is acceptable with foreign visitors. Use titles and surnames until invited otherwise, exchange business cards two-handed, and keep a calm, non-confrontational tone in negotiations. Avoid touching heads or pointing feet, and never make critical remarks about the Thai monarchy: lèse-majesté laws are strict and carry severe penalties.

    Dress code & venue protocol

This is a formal defense and security exhibition — business suits or smart business attire with closed shoes are standard, and military/government delegations wear uniform or formal dress. Expect airport-style security screening, bag searches and restrictions on photography in certain areas or stands; follow signage and stand-holder instructions, and do not photograph personnel, badges or restricted exhibits without permission.

    Money, tipping & payments

The currency is the Thai baht. Cards and QR payment are widely accepted in hotels, malls and restaurants, but carry cash for taxis, markets and street food. Tipping is not mandatory but appreciated: round up taxi fares, leave 20–50 THB for hotel staff and around 10% in restaurants where service is not already added. Weekday business hours are standard, and many offices observe 12:00–13:00 as a lunch break.

    Visa

Thailand is visa-exempt for passport holders of 90+ countries (typically a 60-day stay per entry for tourism/press/short business purposes), so most US, EU, UK, Australian, Japanese and ASEAN visitors can attend on a normal passport stamp. Visitors who need formal business status, a longer stay, or who hold a non-exempt passport should obtain a Thai e-Visa (tourist or Non-Immigrant B) before departure. Exhibitors moving defense/security-related equipment must additionally clear customs licensing and import permits through the organiser's official freight forwarder — exhibition entry is not a customs exemption. Since 1 May 2025 all arrivals must file the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online within 3 days of travel, and passports must have 6+ months validity.

Estimated cost: Varies by visa type and nationality (check official site).

Processing: Varies by nationality; apply several weeks before travel.

Typically 60 days per entry for exempt nationalities; onward/return ticket and proof of funds or accommodation may be requested. Passport must have 6+ months validity. Confirm your nationality on the Thai MFA list before booking. Published fee is THB 1,000 single entry (multiple entry THB 5,000, approx. USD 150). Apply online at thaievisa.go.th.

    Month: November 2027

Temperature: 23–32 °C typical in November (overnight lows ~23–25 °C, afternoon highs ~31–33 °C) with high humidity

Seasonality: End of the southwest monsoon — rainfall tapers off through November to around 50 mm over roughly 4–6 wet days, usually as short afternoon or evening showers; the cooler, drier season begins in late November, so a light layer and a compact umbrella cover the whole trip.

    Plan your trip

    Planning

Best day to visit: Day 2 — Tuesday 9 November 2027

Day 1 is dominated by the opening ceremony, ministerial and VIP walk-throughs and protocol closures, with exhibitors still settling in. Day 2 normally delivers the fullest exhibitor presence, the densest conference/seminar programming and the heaviest government-delegation traffic on the floor, so it gives the best ratio of meetings to travel time. Days 3–4 remain useful for follow-up technical discussions and quieter stand conversations. Confirm hall-by-hall scheduling against the official programme (https://asiandefense.com/schedule) before locking flights.

    12

Verify passport validity and check Thai entry and visa requirements for your nationality — Confirm rules with the Royal Thai Embassy or consulate in your country and allow processing time before booking flights for the 8-11 November 2027 show.

    11

Book flights to Bangkok arriving before the 7 November 2027 check-in day — Target Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang and land the day before the 8 November opening at IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center.

    10

Reserve a hotel near IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Muang Thong Thani — Muang Thong Thani and the Chaeng Watthana corridor keep transfers to the venue short during show week.

    9

Complete online visitor registration and request your trade badge — Register through the official asiandefense.com visitor registration page; admission is open to trade and business visitors only.

    8

Download the hall plan, exhibitor directory and seminar programme — Shortlist exhibitors and the 20+ conference sessions you want to attend before travel.

    7

Request B2B meetings with target exhibitors and visiting defense delegations — Senior army, navy, air force and police buyers book early, so send meeting requests in advance.

    6

Arrange local transport between hotel and venue — Plan taxi, ride-hail or shuttle transfers from Muang Thong Thani and allow extra time on show mornings.

    5

Prepare business cards, meeting documents and company credentials — Carry photo ID matching your registration so badge collection is quick.

    4

Check mobile roaming or local Thai SIM and eSIM options and payment methods — Confirm data plans and Thai baht card and cash acceptance for on-site spending.

    3

Pack business attire plus a light layer for air-conditioned halls — Bangkok in November is warm and humid, so comfortable smart clothing works best for long show days.

    2

Confirm flights, hotel booking and airport transfer details — Re-check hotel address, check-in time and your arrival terminal at Bangkok airport.

    1

Arrive in Bangkok, collect your badge and orient at IMPACT — Collect your badge before the 8 November opening to avoid first-morning queues.

    QUESTION 1 OF 6

    What is your primary role?

    Decision matrix

Compare participation options side by side to choose the best fit for your objectives.

    visit

You have 2–4 days, target a specific set of primes or a national pavilion, and can add Bangkok as part of a regional ASEAN trip.

    Best for

Procurement officers, armed-forces and interior/security ministry delegations, systems integrators, analysts and press who need to read Southeast Asian demand and meet primes in one trip.

    Min. budget

    $400.00

    Timeline

4–8 weeks ahead — pre-register trade credentials, book flights to Suvarnabhumi (BKK) or Don Mueang (DMK) and Muang Thong Thani hotel rooms before show-week rates spike; file the TDAC within 3 days of travel.

    Risks

Budget estimate from listing cost signals — confirm live rates.

Trade-only show: entry normally requires pre-registration with company/business credentials; on-site registration is restricted.

Defense/security content is subject to photography and reporting restrictions and export-control sensitivities.

Day 1 is heavy with opening-ceremony protocol movements, which slows unhurried floor time.

    exhibit

You have a defined ASEAN pipeline, a local partner or agent, and can resource a stand plus meeting programme for the full four show days.

    Best for

Defense, homeland-security, C-UAS, naval and cyber suppliers wanting government-delegation access, and ASEAN channel partners or local joint-venture partners needing visibility.

    Min. budget

    $2,400.00

    Timeline

9–18 months ahead — space allocation, stand build, freight/customs clearance for controlled items, delegation meeting scheduling and security vetting all require lead time.

    Risks

Budget estimate from listing cost signals — confirm live rates.

Shell-scheme space, freight, customs brokerage, stand build and security vetting typically push real cost well above the floor budget.

Export-control and end-user documentation (including ITAR/EAR where relevant) must be settled before shipping exhibits.

Measurable ROI depends on securing pre-booked government/delegation meetings, not just floor presence.

    skip

You are tracking the market remotely — follow the organiser's post-show release and conference output instead, and re-evaluate for the next biennial edition.

    Best for

Teams with no current Southeast Asian procurement pipeline, no government end-user access and no regional channel partner.

    Min. budget

    Not yet confirmed

    Timeline

    None.

    Risks

    No major risks listed.
