Entry to Germany follows Schengen rules. Visa-waiver nationals — including the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea and Brazil — may attend trade fairs for up to 90 days in any 180-day period without a visa, and will need the planned ETIAS pre-travel authorisation once it launches. Nationals of India, China, Turkey and most of Africa and Asia require a Schengen Type C short-stay visa (EUR 90 for adults, EUR 45 for children aged 6–12), lodged at the German embassy, consulate or VFS Global centre covering their place of residence. Allow at least 15 calendar days for processing and 4–6 weeks in peak season, and carry an organiser invitation letter, hotel confirmation, travel medical insurance and a return ticket for the border check.
Estimated cost: Varies by visa type and nationality (check official site).
Processing: Varies by nationality; apply several weeks before travel.
Lodge the application at the German embassy, consulate or VFS Global centre covering your place of residence; biometrics are taken in person and children aged 6–12 pay EUR 45. Passport must remain valid for at least three months beyond the planned departure from the Schengen area and must be issued within the last 10 years.
