Mexico applies a visa exemption programme for short business visits. Many nationalities can enter visa-free for business, and holders of a valid and unexpired multiple-entry visa from the USA, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom or any Schengen Area country do not need a Mexican visa for business, tourism or transit. Where a visa is required, travellers apply at a Mexican consulate for the Visitor Permit (Visitante) without permission to carry out remunerated activities, which covers trade show attendance, meetings, supervision and training.
Estimated cost: Visitors using the visa exemption or the online INM authorization pay no visa fee. Where a consular Visitor Permit is required, budget an approximate USD 50 to 60 government fee and confirm the current amount with your Mexican consulate.
Processing: Online INM authorization (SAE): issued immediately and valid for 30 days from issue for a single trip. Consular visitor visa: allow several weeks for the appointment and processing before your travel date.
Keep your Expo FAC registration confirmation, return ticket and accommodation details available at the port of entry. The visitor permit covers business meetings, training and trade show attendance in Mexico but not paid local employment.
