Germany is a Schengen state: EU/EEA and Swiss citizens travel freely, while UK, US, Canadian, Japanese, South Korean, Australian and New Zealand passport holders enter visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period and can attend the fair on that basis. Nationalities without a Schengen exemption need a Short-Stay Type C visa, which costs EUR 90, requires an in-person biometrics appointment at a German mission and is normally decided within 15 calendar days — apply six to eight weeks before April 2027. From 2027 visa-exempt travellers are also expected to hold a EUR 7 ETIAS authorisation. Bring your fair registration, hotel booking and proof of funds to the border.
Estimated cost: Varies by visa type and nationality (check official site).
Processing: Varies by nationality; apply several weeks before travel.
Apply at the German embassy or consulate covering your place of residence; biometrics are taken in person and the fee is reduced to EUR 45 for children aged 6–12. Valid three years or until passport expiry; linked electronically to the passport and checked at the border, not a substitute for a visa.
