Middle East & Africa (MEA) — with a primary focus on the GCC, particularly the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, and growing relevance to Africa and South Asia

    Why it matters

The MEA automotive aftermarket is at an inflection point, with independent forecasts placing it on a trajectory to reach USD 87 billion by 2034 at a CAGR of up to 7% — making it one of the fastest-growing regions globally. The GCC serves as the commercial epicenter, with the UAE alone representing a USD 7.8 billion aftermarket in 2026. Three structural forces are converging to reshape the competitive landscape: the rapid ascent of Chinese OEMs (projected to hold 32–35% of the GCC market by 2030), the aggressive expansion of private-label parts now accounting for 30% of service parts, and the complexity of managing a vehicle parc that spans conventional, hybrid, electric, and connected vehicles simultaneously. For exhibitors, distributors, and workshop operators, Automechanika Dubai 2026 is the single most important platform to calibrate sourcing strategies, forge regional partnerships, and position for the post-warranty opportunity that Chinese vehicle ownership is creating across the region. The relocation to Dubai Exhibition Centre — with 110,000 sqm of space and direct proximity to Jebel Ali Port, Al Maktoum International Airport, and JAFZA — signals the show's ambition to scale with the market's growth trajectory.

    Industry trends

Key trends shaping this market and its wider industry.

    01

Chinese OEMs Redefining GCC Sourcing and Aftermarket Dynamics

Chinese automotive brands have surged from a 3.5% market share in the GCC in 2018 to a projected 32–35% by 2030. This shift is creating a massive post-warranty opportunity, with Chinese aftermarket brands expected to capture 20–25% of total parts spend for vehicles entering their post-warranty phase by 2027. GCC distributors are increasingly partnering with Chinese Tier-1 suppliers to create high-quality, cost-effective private labels.

    Source
    02

Private Label Surge as a Supply Chain Resilience Strategy

The share of private labels in service parts across the GCC has jumped from 10–15% to 30%, with a specific focus on high-turnover items like batteries, lubricants, and filters. Regional distributors are aggressively expanding private-label offerings to hedge against global trade disruptions, surging shipping costs, and import risks. This shift also aligns with regional decarbonization goals by reducing the logistics carbon footprint of imported components.

    Source
    03

MEA Aftermarket Forecast to Reach USD 87 Billion by 2034

Glasgow Research and Consulting forecasts that the MEA automotive aftermarket will reach USD 87 billion by 2034, growing at a CAGR of up to 7%, making it one of the fastest-growing globally. This expansion is driven by rising vehicle parc across the region, increasing demand for maintenance and repair services, digitalisation of supply chains, fleet growth, and accelerating electrification.

    Source
    04

Complex Vehicle Mix Demands Broader Aftermarket Capabilities

The mix of vehicles operating across the MEA region is becoming more complex. Conventional vehicles continue to account for a substantial share of vehicles on the road, while hybrid, electric, and connected vehicles are growing in prominence. This creates a wider range of requirements across parts availability, diagnostics, workshop equipment, technical skills, servicing, and investment, demanding a more varied aftermarket approach.

    Source
    05

Premiumization and EV Transition Reshaping Lubricants Demand

The GCC lubricants aftermarket is experiencing premiumization over volume growth, with a shift toward low-viscosity, high-efficiency oils (0W and 5W grades). The EV transition is reshaping fluid demand rather than eliminating it, creating new formulation requirements and opportunities for R&D specialists and formulators across the region.

    Source
    06

Digitalisation and E-Commerce Transforming Parts Distribution

E-commerce is becoming an increasingly dominant channel for automotive parts distribution in the Middle East. Digital platforms are expected to account for 50–55% of unit sales by 2035, up from an estimated 35–40% in 2026. This shift is driving investment in digital solutions, supply chain visibility, and new business models across the aftermarket value chain.

UAE entry rules vary significantly by nationality. Citizens of GCC countries (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman) enter freely without a visa. Nationals of over 70 countries receive a free visa on arrival, including EU/EEA nationals (90-day multiple-entry visa on arrival valid within a 180-day period), and passport holders from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and China (30-day visa on arrival, extendable for an additional 30 days). Eligible Indian nationals holding a valid US, UK, EU, Canadian, Australian, Japanese, New Zealand, South Korean, or Singaporean visa or residence permit may obtain a 14-day visa on arrival for AED 100, extendable once for AED 250. All other nationalities must obtain a pre-arranged visit visa through a UAE-based sponsor such as a licensed tourism establishment, airline, hotel, or UAE resident. For the most current nationality-specific requirements, consult the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs official visa exemption list.

The UAE accepts ATA Carnets for temporary admission of exhibition goods. Dubai Customs applies ATA Carnet procedures without requiring bonds, customs duty, or taxes. Temporary importation under an ATA Carnet is valid for 6 months or until the Carnet's expiry, whichever is earlier. Only Abu Dhabi and Dubai ports accept ATA Carnets. Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry is the guaranteeing association. Exhibitors must ensure the Carnet is endorsed for re-export before passing through passport control; failure to do so may result in a fine of up to AED 5,000. For questions, contact Dubai Customs at 800-CHAMBER.

    Cultural notes

Useful information to help you have a smooth and respectful visit.

    Dress Code

Modest dress is expected in public places. Business attire is generally formal with knees and shoulders covered. Avoid transparent or revealing clothing. Women are not required to cover their heads but should dress conservatively. A light scarf is useful for mosque visits.

    Greetings and Physical Contact

A handshake is common between men. When greeting a member of the opposite gender who is Muslim, wait for them to extend their hand first. Avoid public displays of affection such as kissing or hugging. Holding hands is generally acceptable.

    Business Etiquette

Accept offers of refreshments before discussing business. Use your right hand for eating and accepting items. Address individuals by their professional titles. Expect a more relaxed approach to timekeeping. Avoid pointing with a single finger; use your whole hand instead.

    Photography and Behaviour

Do not photograph people without their permission. Photography of government buildings, military installations, and aircraft is prohibited. Avoid bad language, obscene gestures, or any disrespect toward the UAE, its leaders, or religion. These can lead to legal consequences.

    Hospitality

If sharing a meal with a host, it is polite to offer food and accept what is offered. Food sharing is seen as an expression of friendship in Arab culture. If invited to a majlis, remove your shoes at the entrance and stand up for new guests and older or higher-ranking people.

    QUESTION 1 OF 8

Is the Middle East and Africa aftermarket a priority market for you in the next 12 months?

    Decision matrix

Compare participation options side by side to choose the best fit for your objectives.

    visit

You buy, distribute or benchmark aftermarket parts and want 3 days of supplier comparison, free CPD-certified sessions and the 11 November awards networking.

    Best for

Buyers, distributors, importers, workshop and fleet operators sourcing across 11 product sections, plus suppliers scouting MEA competitors and partners before committing to a stand.

    Min. budget

    $1,000.00

    Timeline

4 to 5 weeks: register, confirm entry rules, book hotel near the Red Line and pre-book meetings in the app.

    Risks

First edition at DEC, so hall layout and walking distances are new to everyone

No 2026 stand floor plan published yet, which limits pre-show route planning

Visa and flight costs vary sharply by nationality and origin

    Trade-only entry; under-18s not admitted

    exhibit

MEA distribution is a 12-month priority, you can staff the stand for 3 days, and you have a 48-hour lead follow-up process in place.

    Best for

Manufacturers and brands seeking MEA distributors and importers, especially in parts and components, tyres and wheels, lubricants, diagnostics and batteries.

    Min. budget

    $12,000.00

    Timeline

Ideally 6 to 12 months. With the show about 5 weeks away, only already-contracted exhibitors can prepare properly; new entrants should plan for the next edition.

    Risks

Stands under 18 sqm must use Basic Stand or Fair Smart Stand

5% VAT on all space and stand charges

Freight must route through DSV; late cargo typically incurs surcharges

No published stand map yet for 2026, so placement quality is unknown

High competition from 151+ UAE and 109+ Hong Kong exhibitors on the current list

    skip

Your product has little overlap with the 11 sections, your budget is under USD 1,000, or dates clash with higher-priority markets.

    Best for

Companies without MEA aftermarket targets, consumer-facing brands, or teams that cannot travel or follow up in November 2026.

    Min. budget

    Not yet confirmed

    Timeline

None. Revisit when next-edition dates are announced.

    Risks

Competitors may lock in MEA distributors at the show

Missing the first DEC edition means less familiarity with the new venue next time
